That John Carter movie was a horrible internet browser, I agree.

I doubt they'll disappear. The conventional TV set with a tuner might, but there will still be large displays available. That's how most people use them already, actually, just as display monitors for cable boxes, blu-ray players, streaming devices and the like. I'd imagine the percentage of folks who even use the tuner in their TV, via direct cable input or antenna, is quite small. |

Now that content is not tied to a specific screen, people have options as to how they view content. It's very possible that there will come a day when the only TV in any household is the one in the family/media room where multiple people gather to watch a film together. Buying fewer TVs != to people buying no TVs. |

Of course it is declining. Instead of a 2nd or 3rd TV in some houses, people use an ipad or iphone instead.
People are stilling buying big TV's. Families still need a big screen to watch things together. They just don't need as many. My guess is that TV's per household will likely decrease to around 1.7 per household. From there it is likely to level off. Car ownership is declining if you look at the numbers. The highways are still packed. |

I got made fun of for having two 12 inchers in my room as a kid so I could play Super Mario while listening to a tv show. It doesn't seem so ludicrous now with laptops and tablets and tvs all running at once.

I did that, too (had two small TVs at the same time to play a game while watching a movie/tv show).

Already posted the link about Keychest replacing UV many pages ago. Anyway, I'm done. Need a break from this thread and the forum. I will be back! Last edited by Steedeel; 08-02-2017 at 10:38 PM. |

Don't make the break too long, you're the last of a dying breed, Hard Core Disc Lovers. This is what this Thread is all about, and Digital HD is taking over, UV or Keychest. So take a deep breath, and embrace the change!

I know you oppose Apple, but Apple's iTunes is my favorite digital provider. When they launch 4K with their new Apple TV this Fall, 4K will be more popular, just not on disc. Digital is where it's at. |

This is where Apple's advantage is, IMO. Right now, the only way to download digital 4K movies is through Kaleidescape (very expensive equipment) and Vidity (through FandangoNow I think?) which has extremely limited device support. |
