It's more than 50% greater. Also, Batman had two widely disliked films as opposed to Spider-Man only having one.

Also, what's with the quote above? Me, I'm 33 and I'm familiar with many incarnations of the character, including every single cartoon series, classic comics, and those from the 80s, 90s, and the Ultimate Spider-Man comics. ASM is far closer to how I remember and think of the character than Raimi's films, which are based solely on the 60's comics (up until 3) and have a strange tone I could never appreciate.

5 years is too soon and 3more is "Much greater". uhhh..Ok.

2 vs 1. And how does that effect both reboots?
Wouldnt that work against Batman since the last two "tanked"?

It certainly could have made the suits more wary about the viability of Batman in the cinema, but on the other hand people were ready to see a Batman film without the taint of Joel Schumacher. In other words, people still liked Batman despite Joel's efforts, but they wanted to see the character treated differently.

The difference with Spidey is that we have a lot of people who still appreciate Raimi's approach to the character. Those displeased with his Spider-Man films (like me) are in the minority, hence the audience who'd prefer ASM to a Raimi-directed Spider-Man 4 is much smaller. It didn't stop ASM from being profitable and technically a hit, but not as much of one as the previous films.

No cheering construction workers.
The potential is definitely there. Hopefully some of the critics will have gotten over the reboot syndrome by now. Initially I was disappointed because I liked the Raimi version but Maguire/Dunst just didn't look quite as young in the 3rd version as they did in the first and regardless for that reason alone it was time for a change even if the 3rd movie would have been a hit.

I'd have no problem with both actors portraying a late 20/early 30's Peter/Mary. Thats where they are at now. But the love story and missed opportunity w/ Venom killed the trilogy's dismount. I actually liked the Sandman backstory, but Venom should have been the focus and let the love stuff go to the back burner.
And they flooded it w/ the "HobGoblin" story as well. Just too much goin on.

I just dont see them killing Emma/Gwen after tricking the fans w/ her fathers death. She'll probably be the love interest for the next two films. I doubt she signed on to be killed in part 2 and let some new red-head be his new love. Thats just way too much IMO.
Didnt the first trilogy introduce a new blond to compete w/ MJ? Did they even continue that triangle?
Emma/Gwen is cute, but i really hope they see how keeping the love stuff in control helped the better Marvel flicks. Iron Man, Thor, and Cap all had love interests but it wasnt the focus like TAS. Superman Returns failed w/ the same over-focus w/ Lois and the "Superboy" nonsense.

If they don't
[Show spoiler] put Gwen in some type of danger in the next film then the whole part of letting Peter get away with breaking a promise will kinda take away from the strong moral of Spider-man. Maybe Gwen won't die but my assumption is that he'll regret that comment of "Some promises are best broken" will come back to bite him.

They brought in Gwen Stacy in SM3 and that was certainly a mistake and too much was going on for certain. I'm all for keeping the love interest in check as I'm watching the movie for a Spider-man not a teen love flick. Marvel's movies have kept this in check and yes I disliked the Superboy in SR immensely. Looking forward to the Man of Steel though.

Does anyone know if the 3D version comes with a slip or is it like other Sony 3D movies and just comes in the clear case with no slip?

The 3D version comes with a slipcover, the 2D as well.

The first trilogy stuck Gwen Stacy into the third film for no reason at all.

The fate of Gwen Stacy's father in ASM isn't a trick or deviation from the source material.

Wow...i didnt know that. I stand corrected.

So will Gwen die? thats the real question. Will that hurt the franchise?

i cant imagine her dying in 3 and they close the book.

I think her death would be a gripping segway into the third (and possibly, but I doubt final) installment. Depending on how long they plan on milking this new series, she may live through a couple more films. At least giving them time to introduce and develop a new MJ.

Pre-Ordered the Target Edition online with a Gift Card I had,and payed $3.64 for it,and will be buying the Wal-Mart Mask/Bonus Disc Edition as well. I am really a sucker for Bonus Discs. I fell in love with DVD and then Blu-Ray because of Special Features,so I hate when movies get Bonus Discs/Exclusive Material multiple places. Spider-Man 3 had 4 Bonus Discs(Amazon,Target,Wal-Mart,and the Spider-Man 3 promotional Spider-Man 1 & 2 repackaged Wal-Mart promotion) I just hope Best Buy doesn't get a bonus disc for this one. If it gets a steelbook, doesn't affect me,I care about video-based extras, cases(Steelbook,Digibooks, etc) don't cause me to rebuy anything. Any news on what is on the Wal-Mart Mask Edition's Bonus Disc?

It's called "Unmask the Secrets Behind The Lizard", it probably won't run very long but at least it is free along with the mask case & 3 disc Bluray/DVD combo for the same price as the stand alone Bluray/DVD combo pack, the only thing missing will probably be a slip cover to the Bluray case.

Well maybe it could be a feature akin to the Spider-Man 3 promotional disc (20+minute documentary on the Alien Costume Saga, except for some reason, doesn't cover Venom) (and was a Wal-Mart exclusive, bundled with the Spider-Man 1 & 2 DVDs) and the Spider-Man 2 Doctor Octopus Comic History featurette. I love Comic Book History Docs, some of my favorite features on Comic Book movies are those (Fantastic Four 1 2-Disc DVD/Silver Surfer BD,X-Men:Last Stand BD,Iron Man BD,Ghost Rider 2-Disc DVD,etc)

i really don't think i need the exclusive here. The regular release has a 95 min making of in 5 parts on it plus a ton more stuff like storyboards, deleted scenes.

Love that Sony did that. Now they just need to release it open matte like they did for the IMAX release.

Does anyone have an idea of what the Amazing Spider-Man 4-Disc Traget Exlcusive Bonus Disc "A Hero Will Rise" will be? Is that like that Wal-Mart bonus disc they sold where it is just a behind the scenes featurette?
