Enemy attack patterns will change and the player will start to ‘see things’, including new enemies appearing in previously empty areas. You’re also more susceptible to ‘Frenzy’, a new effect in Bloodborne which, if inflicted, can cause you to incur high amounts of damage and is only treated with Sedatives. Quote from online guide. [Show spoiler]Has anyone farmed rats for insight? I want a resonating bell. The best way to prepare for bosses in Souls was dropping a summon sign and waiting for someone to call on you. Good practice without consequence.

That executioner has yet to drop a gem for me, either.

Had a glitch where one of the dogs would not die and kept regaining full health. I wonder, if you hit an enemy, then he hits you right back, does he regain health like you do?

Gonna try that Father again, after taking a break to do some chores.

How's everyone getting those blood stones you need for fortification? I've gotten a few from random enemy drops. Is there any easier way or some way to get more? Or is it all just random?

You get +1 insight just for finding a boss, which is what I did.

Cleric Beast beat the crap out of me, but because I found him I can now level up.

Incidentally, why are people spoilering the names of enemies? Tactics, or plot twist enemy names sure, but what does knowing the name "Cleric Beast" tell you ahead of time? As far as I can tell he's not even mentioned before you fight him, so knowing the name doesn't even tell you where he'll be.

Well, I had to get help for Father. His hominid form can be parried, but I was not able to figure out if the monster form could be. I tried way too many times . The guy who helped me owned the monster. Took a few seconds. Don't know what he did. I wish there were NPC phantoms to help out. My connection sucks, and it took a whole bunch of tries to get a summons to work, and you lose insight irrespective. I will admit to reloading a backed up game. I don't consider that a cheat, as I should not have to lose insight for network crappiness. I should have had more than ten insight, though, and I only have 8, including my inventory.

[Show spoiler]I gave it to the girl in the house. She cried. I got nothing in return. Reported that it can be turned into a stone for your weapon. But I will bet I find that girl later in the game and be happy I gave her the brooch. On the other hand it could all just be a trick.

So is there any reason not to use armor with better stats?

I haven't seriously played one of these since Demon's Souls, and in that armor had weight so heavier stuff had penalties unless you had stats to compensate.

I don't see anything like that here.

Like any reason not to replace the starter armor with the shop armor as soon as possible?

I made it to the first boss & got it down to 1/4 before dying. I hadn't leveled up though. I've been farming my level up for almost 3 hours now.

I'll continue this OCD until I can't find enough blood echoes for the next upgrade.

Knocked out the Blood-Starved Beast and the Witch of Hemwick today. 4 total bosses so far, lots of good weapons and upgrades done too. Pretty good progress so far!

I made it to the first boss tonight but barely damaged him. I didn't spend a lot of time with it though. I mostly just wanted to see what it is going to be like and I wanted to unlock the doll so I could level up. Anyway, I have a feeling I'll have to watch videos on how to defeat him.

You can always check out the video I posted a few pages back

Basically, learn to dodge well. You have a few frames of invincibility when you dodge, so you can avoid him and punish him that way.

Yeah, I had saved the links to the videos you posted so I could watch them at some point. I wanted to try taking him on without a lot of help first though and now that I have, I'm sure it won't be long before I'm checking them out for tips.
