It's always good when you can't afford to fire your coach. The same situation is happening at Colorado, who are practically required to keep Dan Hawkins because they can't afford his $3 million buyout. Colorado is still in debt from the $4 million buyout they gave Gary Barnett.

I would have given that dumb ass kicker the same stare. I can't believe that he missed two chip shots like that. You cannot give any team (especially good ones) any hope that they can come back on you, and that's exactly what Miami did in the 4th quarter. There are still plenty of adjustments to me made for sure. After all, this is a team made up of almost entirely rookies and sophomores.
Still, I appreciate the fact that we came out of the gate strong with two quality wins like that. Let's hope we can keep it going again Vtech and the Sooners.

Miami actually has a bigger fan base than most colleges in the country. When they're winning. But, what you see is a typical Florida fan behavior though. Be it fans of the Marlins, Dolphins, the Heat or the Panthers, not to mention any college teams. They support the team when they're winning and are ranked high, and they forget about them when they're not contending. I know, it sucks. There is no real loyalty exhibited by the fans. But, I guarantee you that if we make it to the top 10 this year (way ahead of schedule if it happens), then you'll constantly see a full Land Shark Stadium. That's just the way things are down here unfortunately.

OU played LSU for the title that year not USC. LSU won and shared the title with USC. OU played USC the in 05 and got waxed.

You're half right. It was indeed the 2004 OU team that played USC. They just played the NC game in Jan 2005. Just as the 2003 OU team played LSU in the NC game in Jan 2004. I was talking about the OU team that took the field that whole 2004 season leading up to the BCS NC game in Jan 2005. You label a team by the regular season year.

I heard Colin Cowherd on ESPN Radio comment that Pete has never benched a QB, but he'll absolutely have to do whatever gives them the best chance to get to the NC game. As perhaps the best active college football coach, surely that would be his frame of mind. But keeping Corp healthy would be the challenge over the rest of the season due to that hairline fibula (or was it tibia?) fracture.

Thats very true, wasn't he supposed to win the starting job but couldn't be counted on to stay healthy?

I can't speak to that. Doesn't sound familiar. Do you mean back when Sanchez took over or prior to this season?

No, I just remember hearing on espn corp was leading but got hurt, maybe I'm wrong.

You're right. After Corp's hairline fracture, they named Barkley the starter and all the preseason hoopla over him being a true freshman began. So now they have their #1 with a shoulder injury and #2 with a leg injury, and it's only week 3. But I'm sure they'll figure out a way to work through it.

They always have Mitch Mustain as their third string qb, who was the high school player of the year and 8-0 as a true freshmen for Arkansas before transfering to USC.

Let me tell you a little story? I once knew a guy who could have been a great golfer, could have gone pro, all he needed was a little time and practice. Decided to go to college instead. Went for four years, did pretty well. At the end of his four years, his last semester he was kicked out... You know what for? He was night putting, just putting at night with the fifteen-year-old daughter of the Dean... You know who that guy was Danny?

Trent Richardson... He is going to be amazing maybe Bama's first HT winner. Every play its 4+ yards even on bad and busted play's he's dragging 3+ defenders.

Alabama is putting it on North Texas.... not that they are a top ranked team or anything, but it is really impressive how Saban went ahead and put the second string QB in before the first half even ended. He's been really good about giving everyone game time and letting them test their potential under pressure. All these talented freshman and sophomores will be seasoned pros in two years time and this team will be very difficult to beat.

It's good when you can do that because thats one more situation that kid would have over some other first time starter he might have to play against.

Washington over USC, gotta say I wasn't that surprised. I thought that was an upset waiting to happen.

Florida State opened up a can of whoop @ss on BYU, again I wasn't surprised and thought FSU would beat them.

Were only 3 weeks into the season and teams are dropping fast. Nebraska Had VT beat!! Should have won that game. Landry Jones looks really good for OU, 6 TD passes today, new school record. I'm not very impressed by Texas tonight. If OU can get it together by Texas I think they can beat them.

They are going to be good with the young talent they have but they are certainly not top 5 or even 10 material YET.
