For now, redeeming it at Flixster should've redeemed the UHD copy in your Ultraviolet account. You can know for sure by going to myuv.com and logging in, clicking on "My Library" and searching for King Kong.

Clicking on the title will give you information on where you redeemed your code, which resolutions the code unlocked, and what date the redemption occurred. For a movie like "King Kong" that was a 4K re-release, you may have two entries, one for SD/HDX and another for SD/HDX/UHD if you redeemed it correctly via Flixster. The SD/HDX would be if you redeemed a code in the past for King Kong, or purchased it via VUDU. The SD/HDX/UHD would be your UHD code redemption.

For now, King Kong is not available on VUDU in UHD because VUDU does not yet support HDR10, and Universal did not provide a Dolby Vision master of the film. VUDU is working on HDR10 support, and when it goes live, a number of movies (King Kong, the Harry Potter Series, Hunger Games series, John Wick, John Wick 2, etc.) will become available in UHD on the service.

There are signs that it is coming very soon. On my Xbox One S, I can see messages of "You Own UHD" on movies such as Power Rangers and John Wick 2 which are currently not available in UHD on VUDU, but are UHD in my UV locker. It looks like they're in final testing stages and the messages went live by accident.

Here's a screenshot of my UV Library page. You can see the original redemption on VUDU back in late-2015 when I first got the film digitally, and then my July 2017 redemption of the UHD Blu-ray code on Flixster.

When VUDU enables HDR10 and adds King Kong to their UHD lineup, the service will know I have UV rights in UHD and it will be unlocked.

If you previously submitted codes and got HDX you need to contact Lionsgate and send proof of purchase. They then e-mail you new codes, you have to contact Vudu to have your current verisions removed and then re-add with the new codes online. I redeemed both last Thursday and played them last night. Note Power Rangers says and displays "Dolby Digital Plus 5.1" but my receiver was getting "Atmos DD+".
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Ender's Game are two other "secret" UHD Vudu titles.

I tried adding the code directly at myuv.com and the only option they offered was to redeem it at Vudu, but that site also says "Invalid Code".

Missed the window for current UHD redemption I'm afraid.

a couple pages back I posted it would for me using the FandangoNow app(ultraviolet library) on the Roku, (@HDR10) , and the uv and Fandangonow accounts have to be linked, but the Vudu app only access's the 1080 version (i think is the original version digital copy) last time I tried

Did you try redeeming at Universal's website? I redeemed mine late yesterday afternoon. It gave me two choices, Fandango and iTunes. I redeemed it at Fandango just fine. Give it a try.

I checked the Bonus Disk earlier but couldn't find such a segment in any of the features. While I'm at it, I highly recommend the feature about 1933 NYC. It is 28 minutes long and very interesting.

For those who are interested, the very entertaining sequence from the King Kong Ultimate Edition Bonus Disk, in which Naomi Watts toured the heights of the Empire State Building, is indeed in Recreating the Eighth Wonder: the Making of King Kong. The specific segment containing Watts' Empire State Building tour is the one entitled, Pre-Production Part 1: The Return of Kong.
