Default Definitive Blu-ray Steelbook list with links

Greetings SteelBook fans -

Well, they said this day may come; I might be ready to pass the list to someone else.

I've just been so busy with the ol' personal life and almost bought a whole new business that it's been a struggle to keep up (about 100 new releases a month).

Not sure if I'm ready to give it up just yet but please PM me if you are interested in moderating this list.

Legend:
New titles to the list or database are bolded.

New release dates are in blue.

Information requests are in red. Please help me keep the database and this list accurate!

I don't think so, Looper (released December 31st) isn' showing in the Canadian list but it used to...

Why was it removed?

Default Up-to-date update

OP here.

Canada is now up to date, with Looper.

How far along I am will always be noted in the first post; Australia, Canada, United Kingdom and United States titles are up to date.

The Lion King 3D was never released as a SB in Canada, it should be removed from the list.

Hmm... it doesn't appear at Future Shop, but when exclusives stop or sell out, pages often completely disappear. It doesn't appear on Amazon.ca, but it wouldn't if it was FS exclusive.

There are pages for it on Blu-ray.com and Amazon.com, but both sites accept pages from fairly civilian entities. And 6 or 7 people on Blu-ray.com claim to own it...

Are you sure it wasn't an FS exclusive that just blasted out in pre-order - whoosh! - in a week?

Do you know where all those pictures came from on Amazon.com? The discs are included, it's wrapped, and the J-card says "Authorized for sale in US and Canada only." It's a mystery!

Do you have more info about it?

Lion King (3D) got a Viva Metal box in the US and Canada (it came empty in the US and with disc in Canada/Futureshop).

Ahh, of course. Well, that's an idea for the future: perhaps adding other metal packaging, like the Viva Metal (soon to disappear, I hear), IronPack, et al.

I think people didn't like that and that's why there are now separate subforums for those. I for one would certainly be glad to have a single place to go to to see what non-plastic cases are/were available for a given movie around the world.

I would like to see that too, and had thought about it when I was doing the updates, just never got to that point. I think there may be some backlash to the idea (some collectors are SteelBook, and SteelBook only *cough* tiger_qc *cough*), but if done correctly, I think it could be very effective. Just make sure the Metal Boxes and the IronPacks are clearly separated from the SteelBooks.

Do it man, I like it!

Default Update bumpy

Okay, all SteelBooks in the Blu-ray.com database have been added to this list.

After some polishing of Germany ("Media Markt exclusive" and weeding out duplicates, etc.), I'll start linking the titles to their Blu-ray pages.

Remember, you can always go to Post #1 to see what's going on lately.

And if you see a SteelBook online or in a store that we haven't listed, post here! Photos are especially great, front for the cover art and back for the details and UPC/EAN (to add to the database).

Actually I just seen videos and it's not an IP or a SB I have no clues what kind of package it is but I know it's not manufactured by scanavo, so it's not a steel, it's something else.

So since Total Recall no SBs were released or announced for Canada?

Weird...

@Kristan Idol - Did you realize what you were getting into with this new responsibility? An entire global economy pumping out steelbooks like candy isn't my idea of a great database maintenance project.

Ha ha, thanks for thinking of me!

I figured I was a good person for the job because I'm a very organized (hooray, alphabetization!) yet intuitive-about-ease-of-use (non-crazy) collector and I visit the site every day. But yeah, once I figured it out, it was like "Are Sweden/Finland/Denmark releases all the same?" "Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia?" "China/Hong Kong/Taiwan?" "Jumbo SteelBook or Metal Box?" "Yes, the SB is identical but does it have a separate EAN/UPC?" "Okay, this guy 'found one' in a store in Thailand, is that a Thai release?", etc.

And then, when I had done 90% of the updating, I got to Germany... yikes! What, do they give you a SteelBook free with every loaf of bread? Oh, those Germans, what with their fit and finish! I still have to add store exclusives and translations to the titles there. (I have 16 pages of notes to add titles to the database so you SB nuts can add 'em to your collection lists!) (Like me.)

Once I get it caught up, it'll be pretty easy to stay current, with help from all of you.
