ENERGY ESW-M8 Subwoofer The ESW-M8 subwoofer delivers pure, accurate effects and music, with 1200 peak watts of room-filling power—all from a tiny 9-inch cabinet. Plus, it works perfectly with many of the speakers in the Energy line. • Versatile high gloss black finish • 8-inch black anodized aluminum cone woofer and two 8-inch passive radiators • Ribbed Elliptical Surrounds for pure music and movie effects Can't believe how small this thing is but it has a hefty price tag on it for what it looks ![]() |

The M8 is good in accuracy and reproduction as for SPL or Air displacement I have not seen it perform in real life so it's hard to tell how it really performs with those 2 passive radiators. Considering the fact that it hits only 36hz I would say it's not the best in HT. The V8 goes as low as 25hz for an 8 inch. Now I think you would be in for disapointment with an 8 even if it's the best on the planet. For HT you need to be able to hit at least in low 20hz if not high 10hz. I just entered into the world of Energy Speakers! Futureshop.ca has the RC-70's on for $849/speaker right now, so I snagged 2... Im gonna be building a new home theatre room... so we're gonna start from scratch for everything... and these were the first two items we bought... I listened to them at a couple stores and they sounded amazing...
Anyone else have these in their system? If so how are they "at home"... Cheers in advance! |

Indeed Bluray I second your statement and every time I look at your setup I'm drooling over it. I love the entire RC line wish I could afford it.

Well I got my C-50's in the other day. They look great! A lot bigger than what I have currently. However my current stands won't support the C-50's because they are 3 pounds heavier than what my stands can take. These any good? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1051806275046

Aww...you're too kind! ![]() I was watching Star Trek Nemesis the other night and was gleaming with pride over how great they sounded. One could spend tens of thousands of dollars on speakers if one wanted. But why? I'm very satisfied with the set up. I'd really like to hear yours and some of the others with the "C" Series speakers, especially with music. You guys have my interest peaked to experience them myself. |

Hey all,
I'm a lurker here on the forums and this is my first post. Just want to say what a friendly bunch you guys are! Very helpful. Anyways, I just picked up a Pioneer 1019 receiver (seemed like a good receiver for that price range) from FS yesterday, and have been looking at Energy speakers for my loft apartment. I have a feeling that I won't need the big speakers that a lot of you guys have, so I was looking at the CB-20's they had in the store, on sale for 300 bucks for a pair. Is that a good deal? Also, on an even more basic level, would those work well as fronts and backs? If I picked those up, what would make good surrounds to add with those? what about a sub and centre speaker? I'm planning on going slowly so it doesn't hurt my bank account all at once. Anyone else have experience doing it that way? I'm not in a rush either since I have a friends speakers that I can set up right now to test out the receiver with. Anyways, any help for a newb would be appreciated, and I hope I'm not asking any too dumb questions... Cheers, cas. ![]() Last edited by cas; 09-30-2009 at 08:53 PM. Reason: bad grammar |

![]() I did give those speakers a good listen in stereo and they sound great but a bit brighter than expected which some people will qualify as beeing harsh. They are better balance across the whole range of frquencies than most Polk. Some people like the Polk Sound but Energy will certaily be more versatile. Music will sound fuller than the polk Audio, more mid bass. Too bad C-200 can not be found anymore maybe at Audio Advisors. Not sure about S&H fees and I've seen some bad Experiences where there was physical damage to the speakers from Audio Advisors. IMO if you look for what we call a budget speaker in the audiofile world well it's a great bang for the buck and will outperform anything in that price range sold a FS or Best Buy. If you like HT these babies will be amazing performers. Now If you gave us a budget and the kind of setup you intent to build 5.1, 7.1 it would help us a bit more. But great Surrounds would be the CR-10 with the matching Center CC-10. You could pickup 2 pairs of those CB-20 for now and have a nice little 5.1 and wait until CR-10 go on special to complete a 7.1. As for the Sub I expect the ESW-V10 to go on liquidation soon but you could be pushing your luck if you wait to long on this one. I beleive if you look on this thread it can be found at 299$ US. Its currently 599 at FS. I would not recommend the ESW-C10 since it does not go low enough for HT. Last edited by BigAl87; 10-01-2009 at 01:20 AM. |

You should find that the CB-20s will work well, probably not as good as say the towers but I did hookup my C-100s before and they sounded good for HT and music, not as room filling as my C-300s, but good enough. Your receiver should push them Ok too. Welcome to the site and I hope you enjoy the Energy speakers your looking into. |

Ya having owned a pair of c-200 and having used C-100 during my upgraditis I can second your statement. C-200 were quite an improvement over the c-100 in terms of frequency response. CB-20 will do just fine even if don't extend as low. |
