The animation studio itself barely matters anymore, as most staff are freelancers. DEEN has produced some great stuff, so I wouldn't be overly concerned.

The Hulu subs were originally translated as “Can I take his place?”

Unfortunately it is one of those things where we'll likely never get official confirmation. Good luck waiting on Viz to come out and say "yeah the rights were taken from us because of _"

I can't think of a single instance of VIZ letting people know in advance that the rights to something are expiring. All the companies have been very, very bad at that despite it being financially beneficial to let people know in advance, but at least Sentai and FUNimation have sometimes let people know in advance following the backlash of Air TV and Darker Than Black expiring without warning a few years ago.

I mean, it's not surprising to hear the Sailor Moon license may get frozen again. It's already happened once before, but what will this mean for the Eternal movies? Will the reboot series remain in print because that was closer to Naoko's vision but have the 90's series freeze? No way the Eternal movies remain Japan exclusive, that would be a nightmare.
