Geez...wish I'd known in advance. I had ordered from Amazon and canceled and then ordered from Import CDs, as it was a bit cheaper.

Oh well...ya get burnt once in a while. Got it a week early, though.

Yeah...I noticed that as well. I don't think they have EVER had a Criterion BD on sale...but ya never know. You would see it on their website, as they have to at least meet that price.

Today's my B-day....my wife loves to wrap so she wrapped all the Criterions I picked up during the B&N sale individually...with lots of tape. That and surprised me with House...the one I always pick up and put back down...and now I don't have to anymore!!!

Since "The Royal Tenenbaums" is going to be on sale for $19.99 this week, is it safe assume that "Eating Raoul", "The Game", and "Rosemary's Baby" will also be on sale during their respected release dates?

Also does being a B&N member help when there is a Criterion sale?

No. It might happen for any, all, or none. Probably none.

Membership advantage...Free shipping on all orders not just 25 dollar (or whatever it is), additional 10 per cent off in-store, and very YMMV coupons stacking.

I wonder if TCM is showing the recent restoration of Rashomon that Criterion still hasn't brought to the market.

Watched UK The Night Porter last night. Looked really good. Colors really pop with a nice layer of grain. The black levels look wonderful. This is especially impressive considering how dark the film is. Most the the dark scenes look really well with only a few showing some noise. Huge improvement over the Criterion DVD. Of course that's not saying much since its one of the worst Criterion releases in terms of quality. Wonder if this is on their slate for a Blu release. Both the Criterion DVD and this UK release have no special features. This film screams for some commentary or other special features.

Sorry folks...one last Import CDs question. How easy is it to cancel non-shipped orders. Can you do it off their website (like Amazon) and/or must you contact them by phone? Can you cancel individual items in a multi-item order?

Thanks!

Perhaps he took it down now that his book is out, which is a culmination of things posted on the blog, plus more...

Criterion asked what films people want to see when they announce their November line up in a week on their Facebook page.

I really think Zodiac is a smart choice, at least I really want to see it.

Back to Criterion related posts...

I've watched the first two films in the Jean Gremillon Eclipse set and have enjoyed both films. I preferred Remorques over Lumière d’été (how can you beat Jean Gabin )...but I've Le ciel est à vous left to watch (likely Saturday morning) and I'm told, this is the best film of the three.

Looking forward to it!
