Is everything in Jack’s head or is it all real? Or here an interesting idea; their on native land (if I remember right), so perhaps a native one day returned, cursed the place, and like a dreamcatcher, left a picture frame to capture souls for whatever reason. Far-fetched, yes, but plausible. Of course that’s really going out there, thinking on my part. Well, before I ramble-on; the ending is supposed to make the audience think.

Speaking of which, I could have swore I watched the extended ending on youtube several years ago, where Ullman shows up at the hospital and tells Wendy that Jack's body was never found and then hands Danny the ball. But I went to find it yesteray and it wasn't there. It's weird because I literally remember watching it. Mandela effect?

Yep, pure Mandela. The scene is so legendary people occasionally imagine they’ve seen it, but it’s never been released beyond that early cut and I believe the footage was destroyed.

I’d be fascinated to see it but I suspect it would dilute the power of the mysterious and enigmatic ending.

The footage was ordered cut from release prints and returned to Warner Bros. to be destroyed shortly after its premiere, so unless you caught The Shining the week it opened in major cities like New York, Chicago, L.A., chalk it up to your memory filling in gaps.

The Mandela effect. Was it Jif or Jiffy? KitKat or Kit-Kat? Life was like a box of chocolates? Did Dicaprio win his Oscar for Titanic , Gilbert Grape or Something else? A beautiful day in this ,or the neighborhood? Who cares? people do to many drugs. Maybe The Shining sounded better on Laserdisc. Who knows anymore.

Saw what looked like color promotional photos from the deleted ending on Reddit a few days ago. Speculation was that they were from the $1,500 Taschen book.

Has anyone's UK 4K disc packed in? I have this since it was released. Watched about 4 times and was fine. Tried it last week and disc froze up near the layer change. Have tried it a few times since and same issue. No dirt or marks on disc surface. Same issue with my UK goodfellas disc. All 100GB from Warner. I have heard from another person that their Shining disc has the same issue.

Buy a physical copy, the bitrate is much higher and you will notice the difference.
