Am I the only one that thought the non-IMAX scenes were pretty dull and a bit blurry. Not all but most of it seemed that way. It seemed like it was between dvd and blu ray quality. Now the IMAX scenes were very sharp and detailed. I know its not my tv either cause ive gotten great picture from other movies. I dont know, just my opinion.

And people wonder why WB processed the hell out of the TDK transfer...

Because Nolan's photography and transfer process are inherently soft, and people expect their blockbusters to look sharp. WB didn't mess with it this time around, and now you have a bunch of people complaining that it looks like a DVD. No, my comment wasn't aimed at you.

I agree with you. I don't remember this many people complaining about the 35mm scenes in TDK. It's pretty funny when you think about it. |

I pay way more attention to how movies look in the theater now since I got into Blu-ray, and the 35mm scenes were soft in all three IMAX showings I saw at different theaters. The Blu-ray looks exactly like it did in the theater.
I didn't/don't find the 35mm stuff to be that troublesome. Looks clean, which is probably the best description I can think of for Nolan/Pfister's style. |

Take heart! Several recent auctions have failed to fetch even $100. Who knows how low it'll go!?! ![]() |

I think most people have the sharpness on their TV to 0, it helps if you put it back to factory default. |

The sharpness control just applies a sharpening filter to the image, and should probably be whatever "off" is on your TV normally, otherwise you're just introducing artifacts into the picture. But if you feel a given transfer is too soft... that's why it's there. The appropriate amount of sharpening is dependent on your viewing distance... which is one of the many things wrong with baking it into the blu-ray encode.
