How's the 145 minute edit? Surprisingly, I like it a bit better than the director's cut. It's been stated that some of the footage in it just couldn't be found on film to include in the Scream release, but I think that if it had, it would have made the film a bit richer. There are obviously some flaws (Rachel's voice isn't dubbed in the VHS footage, the stuff with the angry mob is still a tad too much), though I was surprised at how well the pacing works; it's slower than the director's cut, but it lends the finale even more impact. There's more time spent with Boone and Lori, more with Decker and his mask, more exposition about Baphomet, a couple of nice extended scenes between Lori, Rachel & Babette, etc. It didn't stand a chance being released in such a lengthy form, but it makes for a great watch. |

Hi everyone I was able to get a copy of the Cabal Cut via a private tracker. If anyone wants a copy send me a private message and I'll try to hook you up (I'll try uploading the file onto mega in parts). I'll also try getting it onto Kickass torrents.
As you all know this is NOT officially available to purchase in any capacity (like on the DVD/Blu-ray set) so hopefully there won't be any issue in sharing it publicly at this point. |

Tried something risky and ordered it pre-owned for $37.97 from Bull Moose. I couldn't bring myself to shell out the $70+ since I've never seen either version of the film. But I really wanted this limited set. Looks beautiful. Regardless of the compression issues Scream Factory has, they put together great sets for movies that otherwise probably wouldn't get released.
Anybody have any experience buying pre owned from Bull Moose? I'm hoping it's in good shape. I won't cry over a few scratches to the disc, but if the packaging is messed up or missing anything I'll be a little upset. |

I just so happened to be watching the LE set tonight after buying it almost a year ago. Haven't seen the film since watching it 1989 in theaters, and didn't really like the film then.
Not much has changed. Although I must admit, at least the DC is like a whole new film (and is better than the theatrical), so that makes it somewhat fresh to watch and it has its moments, but it's still pretty inept overall. Everything about this film looks cheap. The cemetery set is about as authentic looking as a set on "Gilligan's Island" or "Lost in Space". The acting is horrendous and melodramatic. Most of the monsters look silly, too. I think this film would actually look better by watching a bootleg VHS of the Cabal cut so that you couldn't really make out how phony it all looks. But ya, it is an amazing feat that it's been restored to Barker's true vision, so there's that. The LE is a terrific release from Scream so if you're a fan of the film, it's worth it. |

Couldn't be happier with the pre-owned copy I grabbed from Bull Moose for 37 bucks. Not only was it one of the original 5,000 but it arrived in Like New condition. No scuffs or damage to the packaging, booklet included and not a single scratch on any of the discs. I can't wait to dive in to both cuts and all the bonus features.

The packaging states ####/10,000. He got a number under the 5,000 mark. It doesn't mean much though. I pre-ordered well in advance of the movies release when it was limited to 5,000 and should have gotten a sub 5000 number, but after it was raised to 10,000 units I ended up with a number near 6,300. It was a bit annoying, but not really a big deal. Plenty of folks that pre-ordered during that initial 5,000 units pre-sale ended up with High numbers.

Finally? I thought it'd be available "for a long time." I don't know what people meant by that but I assumed it was way longer than 8 months. I know the theatrical cut is inferior and the best extras are on the slimmed down set but being a horror collector it's hard to pass up the limited edition with its packaging and extra features. I don't know what I'll do when I buy this movie.
