Guess you haven't been watching what they've both been doing to other ranked teams.

Both teams combined have scored 378 points on the ranked teams they've played (not including when they played each other), and only allowed 141 points rounded up thats a 3:1 ratio.

ESPN has a rather laughable poll up right now. "Is this year's LSU team the best team of the BCS era?" Ummm.... no, the 2001 Canes would have beaten this year's LSU team by 2 TD's or more. Of course "no" is leading with like 75% of the vote. This LSU team is really good, but I wouldn't put it in the top-3, maybe not top-5 best team since 1998.

Anyone know if a team that failed to win it's own conference ever won a national title? I've looked back to the 70's and still cannot find a case of it actually happening. Alabama might be the first ever, or at least first in a very long time. Not only did they not win the conference, they didn't make the conf title game and technically finished 3rd place in the SEC.

I bet if Alabama lands in the national title game they beat LSU. No way Saban loses to the same team twice in one year.

I just want the two best teams they could be from the mac or DII as long as they are the best.

Well I do think that LSU and Alabama are in a league of their own, but that doesn't mean other teams don't deserve a crack at it. You know what they say, on any given day...

Not sure who will make it, Alabama? They're a lock to make it since they don't play anymore games.

Point spreads for the conference title games. Lots of blowouts expected.

Pac-12 - Oregon favored over UCLA by 31.5 (what a joke of a conf title game)
CUSA - Houston favored over Southern Miss by 13.5
SEC - LSU favored over Georgia by 13
Big Ten - Wisconsin favored over Michigan St. by 9
ACC - Virginia Tech favored over Clemson by 7.5 (Clemson blew out Va Tech when they played earlier in the year)

Other big games:

Oklahoma St. favored over Oklahoma by 3.5
Baylor favored over Texas by 2.5
West Virginia favored over South Florida by 1 - I think WVA wins the Big East if they win this one

I thought they changed the rules so that you had to win your conference championship game inorder to get into the BCS championship after that debacle with the 2003 Oklahoma Sooners.

You missed the subtlety of what I was saying, so I'll say it again more clearly:

I was saying there's no way in hell that they were that inept offensively due to the fear of a turnover.

Urban Meyer hired by OSU and to be paid $4 million a year over I think 6 years, that's NFL coach money.

.
I'm not such a deluded Georgia fan that I think they will actually win on Saturday, but I think it will be a better game than people who only watch ESPN might think.

LSU has not faced a quarterback as good as Georgia's this year, and Georgia's defense is as good (maybe better in areas) as Alabama's. Aaron Murray is 7th in the country in passing TD's; Jarvis Jones is 2nd in the country in sacks; Bacarri Rambo is 2nd in the country in INTs. Georgia's defense is 2nd in the country against the run, and I believe 4th in total defense.

Again, not saying Georgia will win because I'm sure they won't, but it might be a better game than some expect. Either way, I'm thrilled with a 10-game winning streak and a decent bowl game after finishing 6-7 last year and starting 0-2 this year.

Man would I love to play South Carolina again. Georgia literally gave the game away.

AJ McCarron has a higher comp percentage, ypa, they are tied in TD:INT ratio's, Murray has 298 more passing yards (and thats with McCarron in a clearly run first offense and thats with Richardson, Lacy, and Fowler) , don't sleep on McCarron.

Don't forget incentives, plus another $1 million to hire his support staff.

It's a substantial increase in salary paid (compared to what Jim Tressel earned during his stint), but for all intents and purposes, Columbus is a college town and college football reigns supreme. There was simply no way that Buckeye Nation was willing to endure another break-even season with Fickell at the helm. It's about regaining the prominence and pride of their program, regardless of cost. They wanted a name that would pay dividends immediately, so all eyes will be on next year's recruiting class.

It's commonplace for college coaches to make NFL type of money these days. Saban makes around $4 mill/year base salary with Alabama.

Ironically I don't believe Paterno's salary every got much higher than $1 mill per year despite him coaching at Penn St. for a half century. I guess they kept him at a discount since they knew he'd never go elsewhere.
