It's literally the worst kept secret in Hollywood right now. They're signed, just not announced. Why are Hamill and Fisher getting back in shape all of a sudden? Fisher has continually said she's in it, she's horrible at hiding it. Ford is as well, just watch him on 'Graham Norton' with Benedict Cumberbatch. They're all signed. They're just not saying it.

What's the harm in Disney & Lucasfilm announcing it already?

None, really. But I think they're going to try and make a blanket statement announcement with all the cast and everything when all is said and done. Because when it drops, no other news will be able to stand up to it. It'll be sooner than we think too. We're just a month and a half away from May, and that's when it begins filming, so expect official announcements soon...

because somewhere in the world there is someone who doesn't know they are making more movies and they want to surprise them. Seriously, this is Hollywood - even when it is known, it isn't admitted. Remember the whole Khan thing? People saw previews and they wouldn't admit it.

The Lucasfilm acquisition was so huge and very talked about for months, the podcast RebelForce Radio did extensive coverage of it.. I couldn't imagine someone NOT knowing there was going to be more films in the future.

It's nice to see this is fitting pretty close with George Lucas' original timeline for Episode 7.

Most tend to forget that Hayden Christensen's been nominated for a SAG award and a Golden Globe for 'Life as a House'. If the trend had started with most Oscar nominations mimicking the SAG nominations - he'd probably be an Oscar nominated actor as well.

I think Hayden did a fine job. And that fans don't know what they are talking about, and only George knows what Anakin was supposed to be like. People have all these "ideas" about what things in Star Wars have to be, according to them, but when The Creator plans different things, the spoiled brats just love to throw temper tantrums, lol

Let it go, the Hayden Christiansen/Jar Jar Binks hatefest was so long ago and is over done and old and pointless by now.

I wonder if the New Republic will be in the new trilogy.

Or is that going to be ignored seeing as it's part of the expanded universe?

Only time will tell.

It certainly wasn't all Christensen's fault that he was bad. Natalie Portman wasn't very good either, especially in Episode 3, and I consider her a great actress.

It makes me wonder if the new films will be using any of the ideas that Lucas had in mind originally.

He's obviously been consulted about the whole story arc for the new trilogy.

I personally think that Hayden Christiansen did a pretty good job in Revenge Of The Sith but he was terrible in Attack Of The Clones for the most part except for the scene where he watches his mother die.

He generally looked like he was in pain in that scene.

But yeah for the rest of the film... yuck.

Especially the scenes with Natalie Portman, they're truly awful. Especially the scene where they're sitting by the fireplace.

+1, Star Wars cheap shots are so played out and repetitive without much substance to begin with, but 9-17 years later, the internet still hasn't moved on...I'll bet Greedo shot first before a lot of the people currently complaining about it were potty trained.

On topic, it's nice to see an official recognition that somebody's actually working on this movie!

I think the Hayden Christensen hate is sort of unjustified. Sure, he had some pretty bad scenes, but so did Natalie Portman and even Ewan McGreggor. I think they're great actors, but the problem was George's scripts and direction.

If you saw Hayden's audition in the AOTC special features you'll see why he was hired.

I hate the prequels with a fiery passion and it all falls on Lucas. Christensen was bad but so were most of the actors because of what they were given. Lucas turned Vader from the biggest bad ass in film history into a whiny little ***** with his writing, it was not Christensen. The Republic and the Jedi order both fall and the Empire rises basically because Anakin had a temper tantrum. If i was Christensen I wouldn't do the films if asked. He has caught enough crap from fans over the years and he probably has enough money. Plus he has Rachel Bilson.

It's been rehashed over and over across the years, but I am re-watching every episode with the kids recently (except episode III, just a bit too dark), and I can't even fathom the number of times Lucas has painted himself in a corner of bad writing with the prequel.

I'm sure people (Lucas fans, who are apparently different from SW fans in the past few years) have been trying to justify all of it many times over I imagine, but I am still baffled at some of the changes that seem to make no sense whatsoever:
Padme dies (of what? a "broken heart"?) at the twins' birth (in direct contradiction of ep VI according to Leia), Anakin goes from misguided young adult to child murderer in a heartbeart (ep III), Obi Wan has fought alongside R2D2 for years but somehow does not recognizes him in ep IV, they separate the twins but think it's a good idea to hide Luke with his only surviving family on Tatooine, Anakin leaves his mother in slavery for years, Jedis can sense a single person becoming Force sensitive (Vader and Emperor with Luke in ep V) or Jedis being slaugthered across a galaxy of several light years, but cannot seem to feel that one of their own right next to them is becoming corrupted by the Dark Side, or seein Anakin being revealed to him that his "confident" is a Lord Sith and him not trying to arrest him or kill him on the spot when it should be obvious to him across years of fighting the Sith (films & Clone Wars series) that all the Sith does is to Corrupt and Lie, yet he believes the Emperor when he tells Anakin that he can save Padme if he joins the Dark Side?

etc. etc.
It quickly became clear to me with the prequel that Lucas doesn't really bother with continuity, and would rather put on screen his latest "cool idea", wether it makes sense or not.

Am -very- glad he is not writing the script anymore. My 2cps ... out.
