They are still films with a popular franchise brand and people buy far lesser known stuff like Tammy and the T-Rex and Perdita Durango on 4K. I'm sure even the really bad Halloween films will sell quite well.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the Rob Zombie films are now OOP (and the second one’s pricing seems to be creeping up…), so any new release of them would put them back in print in the states.

Halloween Resurrection and the Rob Zombie Halloween aren't my favourites by any stretch but they have their redeeming qualities.

I'm of the unpopular opinion that RZ H2 was better than this first outing - this is because the shackles were off. His first movie for the most part was a play by play of the original movie, just with red necks and foul language and the final act was way too rushed. I don't think it gained anything at the end of it - the second movie was more original and unpredictable. It stands alone as an original instead of a remake

Alas, maybe its my OCD but I'll buy crap sequels or films in a series I don't really like just to have a complete set and I'm sure many of you are in that boat with me.

Halloween 3 gets just as much flack (if not more) in the casual horror/halloween fan base because of its lack of Myers over the Zombie movies and H3 clearly sells well, no reason to think the Zombie movies wouldn't perform well.

In the past I would've strongly disagreed with you. But on my last marathon of the franchise (my first time seeing RZH & 2 in at least 8+ years) I actually found myself hating RZH and liking RZH2. It was pretty shocking, especially since I spent so much of that time prior actually hating RZH2 with a fiery passion.

If they do end up releasing both RZ movies on 4K, I hope they include both cuts and -by the grace of God- that notorious 8 hours behind the scenes doc from RZH2 that's never been released.

Do we know if the PQ will be the same as the previous 4k release?

It should be better since it was scanned from the OCN for the first time.

It should be different than the previous 4K release from Loinsgate. The 1st one was eventually confirmed scanned from an Interpositive. Shout Factory's release is a brand new 4K scan of the Original Camera Negative and approved by Dean Cundey (cinematographer for Halloween).

Basically we should see an improvement in clarity and detail just from them using the OCN over the IP. As for the color timing... lets just say there will never be 100% agreement from the fanbase on how the film should look.

Mainly because the bloke who shot the movie doesn't know what it looks like either

He only supervised the 35th anniversary transfer. Every other other tranfers was not approved or supervised by him.

That's as may be but his track record on other flicks isn't exactly consistent. JCRW82 is right though, some people still cling so tightly to the timing of the old THX DVD I'm surprised the disc hasn't shattered under the pressure. And it's changed so many times since then that people get attached to different "looks" and there's just no pleasing them.

Am I the only here who feels the '07 blu-ray has the correct color timing? To me it has a warmer ..brighter feel to it... just like the early VHS had.

Not saying the VHS had the correct color timing since I didn't see HALLOWEEN in theatres.. but I imagine it's closest to what the 35mm prints looked like.

The 35th blu-ray/Lionsgate 4K... the colors look way too muted to me. For example.. the day sequences look like it's always overcast... and I don't think it was supposed to look that way.

I’m sure H20 would sell better than 5.

Maybe it's closer to the intended look, but not the actual look of the film when it was releaed in 1978.

...which this new transfer clearly won't be either, otherwise there wouldn't be a third BD with the option of "original colour timing presentation" included with the Shout

People would ***** about it, if it wasn't included. Shout don't want to take all this heat.

I would actually Love It if it was the new transfer with the THX DVD colour scheme, all warm days and blue nights. But they're gonna get some heat regardless, it wouldn't be Halloween without it
