Hopefully the UK edition really has a normal colour scheme, then I can just wait for the price drop and buy it instead of waiting for a possible replacement program

Or, they actually did catch the problem at some point and corrected it. Sending out what was already pressed hoping no one would notice or possibly care.

I find it hard to believe that they woud think no one would care or even notice. On a less popular title, perhaps, but not on LOTR.

Yes that may be a possibility, perhaps it's limited to a certain pressing plant?

Rather unlikely. If they corrected it it would mean that the first batch is defective and the second is not. A master can't be changed by the replication plant. Either it is green or it is not.

Fair point. So do you think that it's possibly region specific at all after the UK thread? If there has been a cock up then I expect to hear a statement shortly...

Would you be so kind and check Fellowship wether the green tint is there, the quickest is just to look at the on screen title card. The UK set seems to be okay so just curious.

I don't have a blu-ray player on my computer.
I'll try to take some pictures with my camera this afternoon.
You'll have to wait a little

Default SUBTITLES in UK version - real info.

Hello. Ok this is information about US release. Can anybody tell me which subtitles are included in UK version, but I need clear information from someone which already saw original package or BR menus. All infos in the web are unclear. Thanks in advance!

Very true. Time will most certainly tell, but, if it turns out that not all pressings are plagued by the green tint that would tell me that the master at some point was corrected. Depending how far along they were when said problem was noticed would determine how much of the production run had to be scrapped. You can bet if the number was in the hundreds of thousands they would take a chance and just release it. Otherwise, a lot of money goes down the drain. Even if they eventually do a disc exchange program for the affected release discs many people won't care to go through the trouble, whether they notice it or not. That's just the sad reality and the studios know this.

I know a lot of people are dismissing the picture of the UK version off of a screen, but what is telling about this picture is that the pause logo is still white. Wouldn't a camera have the same white level for everything that is supposed to be white on a TV screen?

Actually the pause logo is not white in the photo. I checked it with Adobe Lightroom. As a test I set the logo to neutral white...the result was an even bluer sky.

LucasFilm's official spokeswoman was quick to try and jump out in front of the SW DVD goof controversey...of course, she also said all the mistakes were intentional, so she wound up causing even more squabbling....

Well, shoot. Guess we'll have to wait for more screenshots. Thanks for checking, amoergosum!

That's Lucasfilm, though. They lie all the time.
