He didn't know that it was a weapon or what it could do for that matter! And he didn't even flinch or be surprised by it! Anyone else notice this?

Let me clear this up for both of you. The item that he kicked at the two enemies was the light ball that he used when he first entered the room. The item he used to get the orb was a magnet of some sort and it was flat on the floor. The two enemies wern't vaporized by purple energy it was clearly blue and from the light ball that he had used when he came into the room.

I've watched this movie numerous times but I'll have to watch it again hahaha. I don't remember a "light ball", he had the magnet of course which pulled the orb out of it's containment unit, the orb contained the Infinity Gem of course.

At first I also thought he kicked back the orb to vaporize the "ninja turtles".

I watched it 3 times on my tv in 3d and each time is as good as the last. I should watch in 2D to check out the 4k upscale.

The light ball didn't get the gem out the magnet did.

You are a bit confused. You think that there are only 2 objects in that scene when there are, in fact, 3 objects.

There is an orb that he rolls into the room when he first arrives. This orb is a light source that lights up the room so he can see if there are any other traps before he can get to the infinity stone orb.

There is the magnet device that he uses to collect the infinity stone orb.

There is the infinity stone orb itself.

The item which incapacitates the "ninja turtles" is, in fact, the light orb that was rolled into the room at the start. The infinity stone orb wouldn't do anything since it hasn't been opened by anyone. If he had kicked that at the "ninja turtles" he would have had to be a hell of a lot stronger than Beckham to even cause a dent in their armour because it would have just bounced off of them and done nothing.

Oh wow, I've seen the film like six times and have somehow completely forgot about that scene it seems. I wont hold it against myself though considering the sheer amount of stuff that happens in that film.

I always thought that was the "light ball" he used to light up the room and not the Infinity Orb.

James Gunn Clarifies AVENGERS/GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Crossover Comments
Quote:
As is so often the case, comments from James Gunn about the possible connections between The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy have been taken out of context or misinterpreted. The filmmaker has now taken to Facebook to clarify those remarks in a lengthy post.

These two articles were based ON THE SAME INTERVIEW (the podcast with Jeff Goldsmith). The truth is, I never said either of those things. I'm not going to tell anyone what happens to the Guardians, especially two or three movies down when who even knows if I'll be around anymore. Whatever the case, there's been a lot of anger around me - at me, from people defending me at others, and so on. And it's all people who love Marvel, like me, and just want to see awesome and amazing and moving stories.

There are many more important things going on in the world right now, but this is clogging up my feed, so let me do my best to set the record straight. Perhaps sometimes I say things imperfectly, unclearly, or inelegantly. All I've ever tried to say was the Guardians are an important part of the MCU, and they definitely share an existence with the Avengers and other characters in the MCU. But the week after the movie opened I walked into the Marvel offices, and I sat down with Kevin Feige and some of the other folks at Marvel. We had a long discussion about where the Guardians were headed and what was happening to them. I told them exactly what I wanted to do with the sequel to Guardians, and everyone was on board and excited. And, regarding the bigger picture, we all agreed on one thing, and that was to keep huge chunks of the Guardians separate from the Marvel heroes of earth, because they have a whole galaxy to explore. We wanted to use them as a way to make the MCU bigger, not smaller. We wanted to make sure they have their own mythos, as opposed to only one that is intertwined with the earthbound characters. They ARE connected, of course, but that connection would not be the purpose of their stories and fictional lives.

When I'm asked about the Guardians and their future, and whether they'll meet up with the Avengers I really don't have all that much to say, because some of it isn't decided yet, and I don't want to give away what is decided. So I speak in these general terms. They aren't things that I'm just saying on the spot, and they aren't things that have been decided on by me alone. But they are sometimes incredibly general, and that can lead to those words being taken in a lot of different ways. So, I'm sorry for all the different ways my words have been taken. Overall, we'll just have to wait and see where the Guardians go, who they meet, and what they do in the MCU. But know that I love them and will take the best care of them I possibly can for as long as I'm around.

MORE IMPORTANTLY, I'm getting a lot of questions about the AA batteries in Quill's Walkman, and how Quill's Walkman can survive for so long.

GUYS, THEY HAVE THE ALIEN TECHNOLOGY TO TRAVEL FASTER THAN LIGHT BETWEEN PLANETS, I think they can figure out an alternative power source for the Walkman, and they likely also have technology to slow the degradation to the tape and player. This seems obvious to me.

Please be respectful in the comments below or I'll have to block you. Sorry ahead of time.

Happy holidays, James
It's this type of fan interaction which really singles James Gunn out as a writer and director, and getting clarification like this is always appreciated (even if it shouldn't have been necessary for him to provide it in the first place). After all, do people really expect him to turn around and confirm plans for an Avengers/Guardians of the Galaxy crossover years before the release of both Avengers: Infinity War and the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel? It appears so, but here's hoping that this will bring an end to the unnecessary vitriol spewed at the guy who helmed one of 2014's BEST movies...

I think this is also a sign that not all of Phase 3 movies will affect Infinity War. Or rather not all of the individual characters will appear in Infinity War.

Perhaps Guardians of the Galaxy was originally meant to serve as a filler movie while Marvel busy themselves with Age of Ultron. And that's what may happen in Phase 3. I'd say the key movies in Phase 3 would be Civil War, Ragnarok, maybe Doctor Strange. There's still two Infinity Stones to discover.

Watched last night for the first time on Blu-ray.

Picture quality was superb!
Sound quality was superb!

Extras:
Avengers: Age of Ultron exclusive look was barely a tease. I was disappointed by how short it was.
Gag Reel: LOVE IT! It needed to be longer too. The dance off scene was GREAT!
Deleted/Extended Scenes: None of those would have hurt the overall film and should have been in. I hope someday the effects will be completed and they will be added in.

For the rest of the bonus material, I do not want to ruin it for you.

I'm liking this guy the more I hear from him. He just basically called out all sensationalism in the media today and all of the ass clowns that eat it all up as if it's the key to immortality or something... all while remaining civil and down to Earth about it!

I'm seeing this tonight. It will be the first 2014 film I've seen. Guess it's about time I got around to it. I like James Gunn and Chris Pratt so my hopes are reasonably high.

So now that I've seen it I can say definitively that it's okay. I voted for two stars, though I would've voted 2.5 were I able. For those who care, I thought it's strongest elements were the characters. Thought about half the jokes were funny, but there were a lot so was laughing pretty often. The villains were pretty hollow. Not interesting and didn't inspire hate. Maybe that's why I felt dazed during the extended finale where flashing lights and booming noise overtake all senses. The use of 70's pop music was well done. Loved the placement of the Runaways' "Cherry Bomb", but I'm a Joan Jett fanatic. The casting was spot-on. Chris Pratt deserves his breakout star status.

Overall, I don't regret watching it, but I'm not dying to do so again.

I was expecting more too, but I enjoyed it very much.

There are quite a few movies where I'm disappointed, but I find that if I wait a while and watch it again I enjoy it much more than the first time. Iron Man 3 was like that for me.

Yesterday, i watch "Guardians Of The Galaxy". The film was not bad, but it certainly was not great. It was mediocre. Not worth seeing again.
