Destiny‘s first downloadable content expansion, The Dark Below, will be available to download for all platforms on December 9. The expansion will add new gear, story, and multiplayer activities, including a new high level raid like the Vault of Glass.

A new character named Eris brings word that the Hive is attempting to summon a terrible god named Crota to destroy humanity. Find Eris in the tower for new missions related to this impending threat, with exciting, new rewards. In a new cooperative strike, The Will of Crota, you and your fireteam face off against Omnigul as she rallies more Hive forces against Earth. The new raid, Crota’s End, is set deep in the Moon’s Hellmouth. PlayStation platforms will also get exclusive access to The Undying Mind, a cooperative strike that will come to Xbox no sooner than fall 2015.

The DLC also boosts the level cap up to 32 and adds five additional bounty slots. Also expect a host of new weapons, armor, and gear to reward you, including Legendary and Exotic items. Three new competitive arenas are being added to the Crucible mix as well: Pantheon, in the constrained depths of a Vex temple; Skyshock, an old planetary defense array open for vehicles; and The Cauldron, an abandoned Hive ritual site.

The Dark Below will be available on its own for $20, or as part of the Season Pass for $35, which also includes the House of Wolves DLC, slated for 2015. Vault of Glass is easily one of the most popular parts of the game right now, so more endgame content like that is just what’s needed to keep fans hooked.

Well that's pretty ****ing underwhelming for $20. There has to be more coming.

I'm all for tonight. We're almost done. If not for shenanigans and magically appearing minotaurs, we would have finished last night. And I need those gauntlets I'm going to get at the end.

Would 2 Raid gear + an Exotic push for 30? But I think Jose mentioned to me the other day I need at least 3 peices of Raid gear to push 30. I have one of each at Level 29 but I rather get to the max if possible

All raid or 3 raid and an exotic, no other way.

I bet when the expansion comes in December, it would be easy to get to Level 30 if the new cap is 32.

You can do the next iron banner thingy in the crucible for level 30 armor pieces too. Nobody will care about getting to 30 when the cap is 32, lol

Indeed! And I have to have those gauntlets now, so I can delete a warlock and make a hunter for whom I already have more than a full set of legendaries. I do not want to be caught playing DLC at level 29.7.

The December DLC sounds good. Can't wait to deploy the ghost and fight off enemies by the skin of my teeth while he downloads or uploads info using dial up.

Did the raid on Normal with NARMAK and a few others, we took a level 25 through with us and he got 2 raid gear, the Gjallarhorn the raid Shotty and something else I don't remember lol

Can't believe the luck these first timers get! I got to be like 8 or 9 raids in and still only have the Raid helmet to show for it Guess I'll be getting my other level 30 gear from Iron Banner.

I did manage to get the Hawkmoon Handcannon, on of the PS exclusive I think.

How will the cap be increased? Will they let us carry 2 exotic armors? Or will the new raid hear have higher light?

Also has Bungie made any comments about item trading? I have been holding onto some legendary gear to give to friends, do I wait or dismantle it for the shards?
