I'll always be a physical copy kind of guy, and until very recently I adamantly refused to even touch a digital copy. But now that I've started trading UV codes with people I've adopted a new policy, and that's I'll get a movie on digital if it's something I want to see but not something I'd like to blind-buy. Or something that I like, but not enough to spend shelf space on it. I'm running out of room for my physical collection so I figure this way I'll at least be able to make better purchasing habits and save some space in my home for things I know deserve it.

EDIT: Oh, and for movies I already have on DVD that I don't want to spend the money upgrading to HD.

Well that's all you have to do is get your foot in the door, and then all of a sudden you're all in. Especially if your Home Theater is all set up for proper Streaming of all your Movies. That's all I do now is Stream the latest Movies as they come out on Release Dates. I just watched Baywatch last night, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 the week before. I feel with Streaming Movies the Release Dates will be cut shorter and shorter.

You can now get 10gb speeds from Copper. It's the wave of the future.

UGH!! That's the best you've got for a rebuttal? How old are you? And don't come back asking me how old I am when I ask the question first! I'm going to go out on a limb and say I'm probably older than you

I'm sort of the same way FilmKoala. As much as I hate to admit, my wife is right, we don't need every movie that comes out. Most of the time she is talking to my son, but she makes sure to say it in front of me too. So now I tend to pick up what I know I'll watch more than a few times on disc and then casually watch on DC.

Copper is Obsolete, if you were counting on G.Fast Verizon just announced it is skipping this and going straight to Fiber. Even DOCSIS 3.1 won't last long in this fast paced World. You need Symmetrical Speeds to keep up with UHD Streaming and Cloud Services. FTTH is the only solution, if you will never get this it's time to set your priorities. Live with what you have, or move to a location that will give you FTTH!

Unless it's a new Star Wars movie, Marvel or Game of Thrones, I'm going all digital. I get the want of having something tangible though. Music is my main hobby and I still buy CDs and vinyl.

Digital HD continuing to break records.
It's a pity that no figures are available to see how many downloads it sold or how much money it made so far since it's release.

For a visually stunning movie like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, why are people buying digitally instead of on Blu-ray?

I think for me, it is the cost stonesfan129 It is basically the same price that the physical BD is going to be for the VUDU UHD version and I feel that's a bit high. As long as it has rewatchability I'll buy it on BD and get the rest on streaming.

One reason is because I don't have a 4K Blu-ray player, but I do have a 4K TV and 4K Roku. VUDU has it in 4K, but you have to buy it from them directly. It doesn't redeem from the code that is included with the 4K Blu-ray.

I'm missing out on the 3D disc from the Best Buy version, since that is also the only way to see it with variable aspect ratio, like the first movie. That's the only downside. They trying to push 4K, but make the variable aspect ratio only available in a Best Buy exclusive on the 3D disc.

Not to knock 3D, but because James Gunn himself prefers the 4K version, that's the version I choose too.

I think in 2017 you can't assume we all have disc players...

Stonesfan is only talking Blu-ray, and Streaming Video is way past that now especially with Providers that Stream 4K. With the proper set up and Bandwidth, Streaming Guardians of the Galaxy 2 matches any Disc!

I think the practice of releasing digital early and then praising the digital sales is a little misleading. Of course it's going to sell, people are impatient.

Comparing 4K stream to 1080p Blu-ray is not an apples-to-apples comparison.

Well where do we sit now on Streaming High Quality Movies, I see we still have a lot of Skeptics. Streaming Video like I predicted is here to stay, and it has reached Very High Quality. The people with the UHD properly set up TV's are enjoying their Streaming Video, and until the others are properly set up cannot really comment with any authority.

But you don't have the proper set up. You only have access to Sony movies in UHD on your Sony TV.

Thanks to my Roku 4, I have access to Sony, Warner Bros, Universal, Paramount, Lionsgate and Disney in UHD.

With the upcoming 5th gen Apple TV, I'll probably have access to every studio in UHD.

Still, I agree that streaming is here to stay and it will only get better in the future.

Take Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, for instance. The Blu-ray contains both aspect ratios of the film (open matte and theatrical matte). The iTunes contains both aspect ratios, along with a bonus episode that features the Phantasm character. Normally, that bonus episode would've been found on the disc, but studios are starting to favor Digital over disc.

Another example is Fate of the Furious Directors Cut being a Digital exclusive.

Oh, and the Evil Dead remake in its unrated form is also a Digital exclusive.

Jason Goes to Hell is unrated on VUDU, but not on Blu-ray.

In America, the only version of Caisno Royale in its international cut is on VUDU too.

Lots of Digital exclusives. The list goes on. Digital is here indeed.
