I haven't watched either film before, but this is the type of stuff I like and I'd be happy to blind-buy them. I'd rather not buy censored versions, though.
neither cut by bbfc, or would be noted.

This trailer for SoaS. Very NFSW.

I'd just like to add that I'm well aware of Japan's censorship of genitals, but the blurred areas are huge (example at 1:35) in the SoaS trailer. I'm also curious to know if any of the violence in ML is censored.

Do we know if uncensored versions exist?

I don't. I know nothing about these, which is why I'm asking before I make a purchase.

as has frequently been stated, even if the fogging wasn't there, you wouldn't see anything because everything would be covered.

Interestingly, TWF's Love Exposure Blu-ray is uncensored in the scene where, um, a grasped member is detached from its wielder (we can assume it was a prosthetic), but it's censored in the six-part Love Exposure "The TV Series" which I assume was Japan-only.

There won't ever be an "uncensored" version of the movie available. The movie was shot with these foggy smears covering genitals in mind, so even if they were somehow removed (some appear to be in-camera effects, not post-production stuff) there wouldn't be anything there to see. Don't let any comments about these movies being "censored" stop you from enjoying them, especially Mermaid Legend which is an all-timer movie for me. There's no cut content, that's just how the movie is.

Okay, cool. As long as none of the violence is cut / edited / censored, I'm all set.

Thank you all for answering. I'll go order Mermaid Legend now.

Tokyo Pop is up for preorder on HMV for a May 5th release date. Seems like they jumped the gun yet again.

It's been up for a while, has been in my cart for at least a week while I wait for a nice bundle to put a 20% code towards. What makes you think it's jumping the gun?

Outside of Discotek, I don't think there is a company that solely releases Japanese films. I feel like the Brits have been pretty lucky with so many quality products coming. My favorite US releases tend to be from British companies like Radiance, 88, Eureka, and Arrow. Still hoping one day TWF partners up with someone like OCN or MVD to get some of these titles here too. Yeah, it will be expensive, but I think the reward potentially could be greater.

I know a lot of people here use Terracotta for TWF. I pre-ordered Mermaid Legend and Bumpkin Soup from them, did not pay any postage. I just tried to order New Religion and the cheapest postage option is 6?! Is there some kind of promotion where you spend over so much you get free postage? Or is it a first order promo or something? I had a look at their shipping policy but I couldn't see anything listed. I was tempted to add A Samurai in Time, but I noticed they hold the order until all items in the order are ready.

I think its a 25 minimum for free postage from Terracotta.

The Brits have been carrying HK and Japanese releases in the West for the past few years now. We here in the US should be thankful labels like Arrow, 88 Films, Radiance, and recently, Eureka, have opened US operations to bring these releases to our shores, especially for those of us who do not dabble too much in Region B (like you and I, for example).

Yeah, I'm pretty thankful for all these British labels coming to the US as they have released some of my favorite films in both the US and UK. It's a good time for sure, and hopefully they continue their expansion into the the US, which is why I would love to see TWF also join in with the "fun".

They added the listing before TWF official announcement and before other retailers.

I feel like they're usually up at retailers before TWF announces, as they usually announce via their newsletter and on socials so people can just link straight through and order. That said Terracotta is usually straight in with the listing so maybe HMV are early if they don't have it yet.
