Exactly. Although I suppose in the sense of a true "home theatre" (a dedicated room for watching movies) 42" could be considered small, in the grand scheme it's not. I have a 32" 720 in my studio. I actually prefer it to most of the larger 1080s my friends have. I'll probably go up to a 42" at some point but anything larger wouldn't be comfortable to watch in that space.

Exactly. As I said, people have this mentality that bigger is better, and often their tv takes up too much room in the room they have. I'm sure that later on when I move into a house and have more room, I'd get a bigger tv. However, I live in an apartment. It's no shoebox, but my livingroom is long and narrow. The only spot I can feasibly put the tv is on the wall that leads into the kitchen and dinning area. There's no room for anything bigger really. Perhaps a 47", but that's not something I need or want right now. The mentality on this board sometimes is that you only have cheap garbage if you paid less than 1000 for a TV, and it's under 55". It's a bit silly. Like I said, it's replacing cars as compensating for things.

Well you can definitely get 60 inch TVs for under $1000 (look in this weeks BB ad). They're just a few seasons old. Nothing wrong with that.

Personally, I don't know why anyone would want to own hundreds of blu-rays to watch them on anything smaller than a 55 inch TV. Esp a 720p TV. To me that seems like a giant waste of money- I don't care how small your room is.

To watch films that they like at their convenience, most likely. Most people don't need to simulate a "theater experience" to enjoy a film, and the notion that you have to have a 40"+ 1080 TV minimum to get anything out of HD is a fallacy.

Also, there have been studies done that room size does matter. Too small or too large for your viewing distance will result in eye strain and headaches. You could squeeze in a few extra inches, like say go from a 42 to 47", but to go from a 42" to a 60" in a small room would be too large and you'd end up seeing individual pixels, which would make you think your PQ is crappy.

Just saw that a restored print of Following is screening in New York, could the long promised blu ray be coming?

Mine is 40' and I am perfectly fine with it. DVDs look like DVDs and BDs like BDs. My room isn't small but the space where the TV fits in is not really big. I watch films to an appropiate distance and it works all right.

Distance is key! Im thinking of adding a 42+ inch TV, does anyone know of a few models with a powered headphone jack?

It's not as bad as Battlefield Earth, it's close to a 1.5/4 star movie...So any suggestions for a Tv w/ powered headphone jack?

I noticed, I'm probably going to wait a month or two. My birthday is in November, I won't feel bad about ordering it then.

I wasn't referring to HD when bringing up 720p TV. I was more referring to the cost of Blu-rays versus the hardware you're viewing them on. Sure you can enjoy it, but is it really worth the extra money?

It's like getting synthetic oil changes on a Toyota Camry. Sure you can do it, but why would you want to on a car that will probably already give you 200K miles...?

Whatever floats your boat.

I'm trying to find one but the stupid store websites aren't listing headphone jacks. I know my LG has one, but it's a 2010 model. I also don't know your price range which would narrow it down more, and I'm only assuming you're American.

I have never watched battlefield earth. However there is probably someOne who wants it on criteriOn blu
