I shop around for the best price, and that has to do with UHD too. The Combo Packs with Digital are good, but then it's hard now to sell the Disc because that Market has gone sour.
I agree, codes are great. But it's not a good indicator of how well UV (or digital in general) is doing. The more the disc market goes sour, the harder it will be to get our cheap codes. Codes don't really show up until 2 weeks before physical street date and then you're still paying a lot. 1 week before prices stabilize. And then by street date you can get it for $3-4.

I get what you're saying. But I don't see how it is an advantage for early digital releases.

I disagree. When I go to the indie theater, I'm usually the youngest person in the audience by a good 30 or 40 years. The white haired seem to be the ones enjoying these smaller, more adult movies, while today's current crop of teenagers prefer to be on youtube or snapchat rather than going to the movies.

Nope. It's Millennials and, to a lesser extent, my generation (Xennials) that are driving streaming video. No doubt about it.

While Boomers are definitely becoming more tech savvy, most are still depending on their children/grandchildren for tech support. Most Boomers I know are completely content with disc and have no particular affinity for streaming video.

Boomers, to be honest, are the only group still holding up legacy industries like landline phones and cable TV.

I agree, if I could get the regular version I'd probably go for it. As it is though I have no interest in paying 5 extra dollars for what I'm assuming is a cheap plastic tiara. I could just give that to my sister but I'm worried it wouldn't have a slipcover if it comes in a box and that would annoy me. I'm picky I guess.

Why even buy? Why not just rent for $3-4 when the option is there?

But I think this is a great system, I did it one time back when the first Hobbit movie came out.
The nice thing about this - you get to double-dip with codes. You bought digitally, get the disc shipped which also has a digital code in it. Now you have a code and can go trade it online for something you haven't seen.

Well Hurricane Harvey claimed over 700 physical movies of mine. So for now, it looks like Digital only for me for a while.

Well that depends on the movie and how you feel about it. If it's a movie you don't care that much about or aren't going to watch very often sure just rent it. But if it's a movie you really like and want to view repeatedly you are better off buying it. I only buy movies I really enjoy and everything else I usually just check out at the library lol.

Sorry to hear that. The thought actually crossed my mind if anyone on the board lost flicks. Hopefully you redeemed the ultraviolet so you have digital backups of some

I lost a few without digital copies, but most were covered thanks to UV.

So sorry to hear about your movies but more importantly I'm glad to hear you are ok! It's good that you have digital backups for most of your movies, that is definitely a positive aspect of digital media.

Sorry to hear about this. Most of my family, thankfully, made it unscathed (they live in the northeast Houston area (Humble/etc.). I do know there is a lot of damage to other parts of the city. Some of the stuff I've seen on social media has been heartbreaking.

Glad YOU are at least ok though. Movies can be replaced, but human life tends to bend to that stubborn thing called physics/biology and can't be replaced (at least until Necromancing becomes a legit thing).

Hi Whipnet; I am glad you survived Hurricane Harvey last week in Texas. You did lose their physical movies and other stuff that was dear to you, however, the support you get here & elsewhere in the way you survived will be very beneficial to you and your family's well being.

Well another day and another problem with vudu after watching 5 mins of guardians of the galaxy vol 2 the video got an error force quit on my phone. I also seem to be getting some superficial errors in the iTunes layout in the video section (its cosmetic but it would be confusing if people did not already know where the play button was) though they don't impact playback. I just wish digital vod companies had more quality control like Netflix. I see the man behind the curtain way to often on vudu amazon and iTunes.

I heard in the news on Friday that Flixster Video had closed down last Monday, the 28th of August, for people living in the US. People who had accounts living in the US now have to use Vudu or FandangoNow instead for having your UV titles in your library.

The service had closed down due to a unexpected shutdown of a critical vendor.

https://www.flixstervideo.com/faq

People who live outside the US will be able to use it as normal although it's user numbers are hugely reduced now that the US is excluded for good.

The really frustrating thing is that Vudu has awful customer service, unless they've improved things recently. I know that whenever I've had problems in the past it would take them days to get back to me, if they even bothered at all. I like Vudu when it works...I'm annoyed that it isn't compatible with my tablet anymore.

Physical Copies or Digital?

Well, I reside in this dimension, If I can touch it, then is real and mine, if I can't, then is not real and imaginary, so lets get "Physical!"
