Watched the rest tonight and skimmed through the extras (which frankly are mostly worthless). I rate the overall image/transfer quality as such 1 to 5, 5 being best:

Godzilla Raids Again - 3.5 (good print, a bit light without solid black levels)

King Kong vs Godzilla - 2.0 (terrible print, amateurish, dated and heavy-handed digital tinkering, vhs tape quality in places)

Invasion of the Astro Monsters - 4.0 (solid print and transfer, a little rough around the edges)

Son Of Godzilla - 4.0 (same as IOTAM, but a tad nicer, sharper print)

Destroy All Monsters - 4.5 (very good print and transfer, better than US Media Blasters BD release)

I got Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla and Terror of Mechagodzilla in this week. Transfers aren't so hot. Colors are better than the R2 DVDS, but tend to be on the warm side and contrast is low. Almost looks like the "heisei haze" over the entire picture. Both films were definitely DNR'd (excessively in my opinion).

For ToMG, this is better than anything released so far, since the Classic Media discs used the old Toho masters. For GvsMG, I'd stick with upscaling the Sony DVD for now.

I own a few of the original 2009/2010 releases (like Mothra Vs. Godzilla) and I just got in a few of the new batches as well (like Invasion of the Astro Monsters). I noticed two differences:

-The original releases used Dolby TrueHD for lossless 5.1ch, whereas the 60th anniversary discs I have are all in DTS-HD MA 5.1ch.

-The original releases had the trailers in 1080p (23.976 Hz) whereas the trailers in 60th anniversary batch I have are in 1080i.

Does anyone have a 60th anniversary issue of one of the Blu-rays that were previously released in 2009/2010? If so, could they check to see if in fact the sound of the feature was changed from Dolby TrueHD to DTS-HD MA and that the trailer was changed to 1080i?

The 60th anniversary issues of the 2009/10 releases are the exact same, except they don`t have the "sparkly" slipcovers

im probably going to have to get these at christmas...maybe oct or nov...we'll see.
the first ones im going to get are godilla vs mechagodilla...though someone above me says the sony dvd is better.

godzilla vs gigan....i have the kraken release which i find to be dvd quality...so im looking to upgrade.

and godzilla all monsters attack....this movie always brings a smile to my face and good memories.

it would be nice if someone has one of the old releases and compared it to the 60th version. someone said they switched audio codecs....i wonder if it sounds the same or looks the same.

Does anyone know when or even if the rest of Tohos genre films like Varan, Frankenstein Conquers The World and Dogora will see Japanese Blu-ray release?

Did anyone, just out of morbid curiosity, buy Toho's blu-ray of the 1998 Roland Emmerich disaster?

My jaw dropped when I discovered they even went as far as to put out that movie in their recent series of Godzilla blu-rays.

It was remastered by Toho along with the other 28 Japanese films in 2008. So, the transfer will definitely be different than Sony's. It is one that I have debated buying too.

I am getting three of the Japanese releases when my income taxes arrive. I know that I am getting Godzilla Vs Mechagodzilla and Godzilla 1984. Just don't know what else I want to get.
