Bloody hell. Why do you have it already? Were they supposed to be release next week?

I presume these are the individual ones?

PS: If anyone ordered the limited combo pack can you guys post a picture once you have it in hand. Still debating which edition to get..

And yes, these are the individual releases, not the combo pack.

Well, I am not Isao Takahata (sorry manicsounds ), but the guy sitting next to him. So my hint on those Totoro & Hotaru BD pics two weeks before release was that GhibliWorld.com is my website and so it used to be my thing to try and bring Studio Ghibli related news from Japan before others got hold of it. I stopped updating it for already about three years now (life's too busy), but having done interviews with people from Studio Ghibli and other studios was fun and very inspiring. And of course, my appreciation for the works of Miyazakai, Takahata and everybody at Ghibli is still there. ^_^

I used to follow that page, still have it bookmarked. I really liked the features and interviews. It was the kind of stuff you really couldn't find anywhere else, so it saddened me to see it being let go. Some great stuff there, thanks a lot for it!

Thanks GC Riot, happy to hear that! Took a lot of time, but it was also rewarding. Well, you never know... maybe I'll find some time again and it'll be "ただいま!", but for the moment... ^_^

How about these for the next ones after Totoro/Fireflies Studio Ghibli?

Yes, I know I've said I don't really care for Porco Rosso but I saw it again yesterday and realized I hadn't seen it as many times as I thought and that it'd been quite a wile since I'd seen it last. It's no longer at the bottom of my list.

My list: (Revised and re-evaluated):

1. Kiki's Delivery Service
2. Whisper of the Heart
3. From Up on Poppy Hill
4. Ponyo
5. Howl's Moving Castle
6. My Neighbor Totoro
7. Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
8. Princess Mononoke
9. Spirited Away
10. Porco Rosso
11. Ocean Waves
12. Arrietty
13. Grave of the Fireflies
14. Laputa: Castle in the Sky
15. Tales From Earthsea
16. My Neighbors the Yamadas
17. Pom Poko
18. Only Yesterday
19. The Cat Returns

I need to see my bottom four films again, I see that now. Tales From Earthsea, which I quite like, is sinking lower and lower on the list. Hmmm...

Just ordered the Japanese Ghibli Museum and Yanagawa's Canals DVDs. Anyone have these? Says that they both have english subtitles. Looking forward to seeing some Japanese landscapes on the Yanagawa's Canal's DVD.

Have them. Can't really remember if they have them (subs aren't really my thing), but I think they do. Apart from the extras though, these never have subs. Yanagawa Horiwari Monogatari is interesting, but it remains a NHK documentary, it is nowhere comparable to the rest of Studio Ghibli's works.

Lol I kind of guessed you weren't Takahata.. :P

But seriously dude, jealous that you got to interview and meet the founders of Ghibli! That is so cool!

Hopefully you could get back into updating your site. It's helpful and very informative. The collections are just amazing.

Hahaha. Indeed, Paku-san isn't really the type of person to surf around the internet and start posting stuff on a forum. That would have been something.

About the interviews, have spoken with quite some directors in the past, but the Ghibli ones remain the better ones.

Actually, I've never taken the time to take pics of all the entire collection. For example, I still have 40 original movie posters locked up in tubes. Now that I've moved to my new place I plan to "wallpaper" the walls of my atelier in the garden with them. Should be nice.

To put it into perspective, I bought Fireflies from YesAsia for £54 and Totoro from CDJapan for £61 with AirMail. The reason I went with CDJapan was to see if I would get charged import fees in the UK.

I'd go with YesAsia for sure for the time being.
