Have you ever taken any response measurements at your seats? I'm a bit curious as to how the FR of the epiks is working in a smaller sealed area like this.

I will let you know. No I have never taken any measurements. I just run Audyssey with multeq xt32 and check with SPL meter. Many times I have wanted to setup with REW but never have. Why do you ask?

Just curious to see if xt32 can tame some of the frequency peaks the empires might show for you. They have that huge peak up top(something like 8-9dB from 70-120hz?)...and in your room they may show quite a bump in the 18-25hz range too. But xt32 might tame all of it fairly well. In any case, seeing the FR at your seats could only help in determining exactly what your next step/upgrade should be.

Will power sound ever consider cylindrical subs similar to svs?

We always have multiple projects in various stages of proto typing. Nothing cylindrical "right around the corner" so to speak...but progress is being made.

Default 2012 Audioholics Product of Year Award Winners - Power Sound XV15 Subwoofer

Audioholics features the Power Sound XV15 Subwoofer on its Product of the Year Awards list.
Quote:
Upstart home audio company Power Sound Audio’s entry into the internet direct subwoofer arena a few months ago with the PowerX line of subwoofers has been accompanied by lots of speculation and excitement. Their middle model in the PowerX line, the XV15 subwoofer, is a large 15” down firing vented unit weighing in at a substantial 92lbs, with a 500 watt class D BASH amplifier, heavily flared Aero-port, black sand textured finish, heavy duty U.S. made driver and a 5 year comprehensive warranty. Additionally the PowerX line is assembled in the U.S. from U.S. made components with the exception of the amplifier. Somehow the price for the XV-15 is held to just $799 and that includes shipping. We found that the XV15 sounded clean, composed and dynamic with music, while possessing extension well below 20Hz in room with plenty of headroom to make its presence felt in a large space on movie night. Even more important than the impressive parts list of the XV15 is the manner in which those parts are tuned to work together in a well rounded finished system.
Not bad for a first year, eh? Congrats to the guys at Power Sound Audio.

That's great to hear.

Has anyone on this thread received the XS30 or have one ordered?

Thanks, pretsam.
I've never had a sealed sub. let alone one with dual drivers, and I'm curious to see what the end user thinks of their new XS30.

There were just some small issues that occurred during shipment like pin tabs being broke on the grill from shipment. But Tom & Jim are already working that out as you'll see in the thread.

Out of the blue I had emailed Tom a couple of days ago to ask how they were shipping the XS30. I was told that they were going FedEx but they were having some issues. Probably have to go to truck freight soon.

I think it's just a packaging issue. Something a little more cushion for the grills maybe? My XV15 came in perfect shape and its weight is 19lbs less. Hopefully nothing crazy to where they have start charging shipping. The free shipping is a bonus even tho its slightly included in the price. I just checked their website and it looks like they are listing B stock items on there now which I like to see.

The free shipping is certainly a plus. Tom's and Jim's background along with the quality product they are producing, is why I'm making a change.

Someone posted a comment from another forum about the XS30 on the AVS forum Crazy that might have you all smiles.

You're probably talking about the last post.
My concern is the location of the sub, you've seen my crazy layout in my gallery.
I talked about it with Tom, but I won't really know for sure until I have one in my set-up. I really want it in the center of the room.

I thought the center of the room was the worse place to put a sub. According to Tom a corner is the best place for placement.

That's my concern,
I should clarify that my front speakers are spread across a 25 ft. wall and I have a Hsu sub in the center of that wall and a smaller one in left front corner.

My seating area is along the opposite wall maybe 18 ft. wide.
Testing with a meter I'm getting the bass from the sub's across the listening area with no more of a 1 1/2 decibel variation.

That's was one of things I talked to Tom about, that I wanted just 1 of the dual driver Psa subs in the center and if he thought it would work there.

My first thought was that the down firing XV30 would be best to try there since the XS30 would have the drivers pointing to the left and right and not have one pointing to the corner and the other in to the room like I believe might be the best way.

I'm still confused though, so I'll try getting back to Tom to see if I should change my order to a XV30 instead.
