The Drake character in the books figured out Batman's identity by using observation as well. Its far fetched but in a comic book universe.
Below is a link to comic fans discussing his "detective aptitude".

If you listen to what Blake is saying and follow how he figured it out it wasn't stupid. I don't understand why this is such an issue for people. It was explained by that character pretty clearly how he figured it out.

So what are we thinking here for a release date? TDK came out on December 9th 2008. I'm hoping it comes out sooner. 2 days before Thanksgiving would be really nice.

No, it was extremely stupid, and stuck out as such all three times I watched it.
[Show spoiler]Blake "saw it in his eyes", is what it boils down to. No evidence, sighting or accidental giveaway...an absurdly specific supposition based on some abstract "crack" in Wayne's persona. Not "Gee, this Wayne fella seems to be masking a sort of inner sadness/turmoil with his playboy persona" or "Something's not quite right with this guy", but "Oh, well clearly Wayne is Batman."
Ignore the conviction with which Gordon-Levitt delivers that monologue, and focus on what he's actually saying. It's monumentally stupid. That moments like that didn't derail the whole thing for me is a testament to how engaging I found TDKR on the whole.

Really, the only issue I had with this film was the lack of Batman and the slight inconsistency with Gotham, as the first two movies were always setting in a Chicago-like metropolis. Although it was pretty cool to see the "real" Gotham.
That's because the first two were filmed in Chicago, while the last one was filmed in Philly and other places.

Regarding Blake figuring out Wayne, Vicky Vale also figured out the same thing in the 1989 Batman by comparing the eyes of a young boy as seen in a old newspaper clipping with how his eyes looked after the Joker's Town Hall massacre. Just sayin'...

I think there were a lot of clues pointing to Bruce being Batman. It's just that the newspaper clipping about Bruce witnessing his parents' deaths and Knox's 'What do you suppose this does to a kid?' was the final push, so to speak. I think it made much more sense than Blake's explanation, which I found unjustifiably stupid.

Good point (I need to re-watch it again.) While I don't have a problem with Blake's "insight," something like how Reese figured it out from TDK might have worked better...

Batman Begins is a pretty stage-bound film. The wide shots are Chicago but anything on the street is a set.

In terms of location photography, TDKR is a mix of Pittsburgh, New York, and Los Angeles.

I agree.
[Show spoiler]It was that he saw the same isolation that he had, and everything that he knew about Bruce Wayne (dead parents, disappeared for seven years, came back right before the Batman was first sighted, is filthy rich and able to bankroll being Batman, etc...) gave him the evidence. Honestly, I was more disappointed that Gordon had no clue who he was. I would rather have had him say "Thank you...Bruce" when he was about to fly the bomb away than the way it went. But it was still a great scene.

The reason Gordon never figured
[Show spoiler] out Batmans identity was because he didnt want to know who Batman was, "I never cared who you were." "...and you were right". This also is similar to a panel i a graphic novel (of which the name eludes me) where batman takes off his cowl and Gordon refuses to look.

[Show spoiler]True, I remember him saying that. I shouldn't have said "disappointed" really, too strong a word. I just remembered in some Batman comic where he was talking about Perry White being too good a reporter to not know who Superman was, like Gordon was too good a detective to not know who Batman was.

Didnt Blake see Wayne multiple times while at the orphange? Didnt he have the time to "study" him?

Either way u go its hard to pull off the identity reveal. Its either a mistake, a reveleation like in this one, or he reveals himself, which didnt look like that could be woven into this finale.

Im from the school where one should have to jump thru hoops to find out who Batman is.
DC let Tim Drake figure it out on his own so this wasnt really some new idea or surprise for me.

I think in this case it was Nolan doing his "realism" approach.

I mean, think about it - it would be rather impossible to do this in reality (be a costumed super hero) even if one didn't have to worry about the technological issues (making all the gadgets). Facial recognition, satellite video, supply chains, etc.

Selina even points this out in the film, I can't recall the line but it was something like, "Any kid with the Internet could figure out who you are in a few hours..."

It would've made more sense if Blake
[Show spoiler]turned out to be Prince Joffrey in Batman Begins. At least, he actually met Batman onscreen! And it was fu**ing stupid that Nolan didn't tie that in since he did it with everything else from the first film!

So again, fu** that explaination by Blake. It was bullsh**.

I saw this last night and thought the movie was great except for how they ended it with Bruce
[Show spoiler]losing everything which made no sense to me. If he lost all his money and everything else than how did he have money to go on vacation.
