I got my account and my nephews acoount done last night I can't wait to start using this. I called both my local theaters yesterday to make sure they support this and they both do.

So basically if I try to use it for an IMAX 3d movie, I will just have to pay the difference out of pocket correct? So if Regal charges like 4 bucks more for an IMAX 3d movie , I just pay with the pass, then pay 4 bucks?

Nope. You won't have the option to purchase an Imax ticket at all. No way to pay the difference.

Somebody earlier on this board said they selected a random movie on the app and tried to do a "pay the difference" thing for IMAX at their theater and Moviepass banned em. I guess that means you can't select a movie on the app and get a ticket in advance for a different movie at the same price either.

Yeah. Someone mentioned buying a regular ticket and then doing an exchange with the regular ticket for an IMAX one paying the difference then. That might work but seems like a hassle.

Not sure how moviepass would even know as long as you do an exchange and pay with a different card. Your best bet would to buy a 2D/regular showing ticket through MP and then explain at the boxoffice that you would like to exchange for the Imax/3D screening. Don't just do a random movie.

Maybe that person that got banned can chime in exactly how MP knew?

Got my card numbers this afternoon in the app. Chances are that its on the way.
Getting an AMC Stubs card. I have a feeling that I'm gonna rack up some buku points.

I think that person ordered a $12 2D ticket via the app which loaded funds, told the cashier that they wanted to buy an Imax ticket, and told the cashier they would pay $12 of the Imax ticket using the moviepass card. They then paid the remaining via cash or a credit card.

The transaction would show it was an Imax ticket to Moviepass and cause him/her to get banned.

When I go to the app and I go to the section that says moviepass card it did say a number but now it says order cards. What does that mean? I already signed up last night.

So would it make a difference if it was a regular 2D movie? Like if I want to see Dunkirk a second time, but I've already seen it once. Couldn't I just pick Girls Trip in the app instead for the same price and pay for Dunkirk with the Moviepass card (as long as the ticket price is the same) - and it shouldn't matter?

I doubt it. I think anything that is different from the movie that you 'checked in' will probably be against their ToS. If someone really wants to use MoviePass to see Imax, 3D or something with a surcharge would probably be best to just pay for the ticket of the regular showing/price and then do an exchange by saying that you changed your mind and want to see the higher price show. I believe the previous pricing models had a premium sub for Imax/3D showings, so they might decided to add a premium sub in the future if they make this 9.95/mo thing work later on.

I don't know as I don't have the service yet. I don't know the policy on seeing the same movie twice but if they don't allow it then you would be bypassing their rules and risk your account. They most likely can see what the actual transaction was. If they see you bought Girls Trip in the app and then see the transaction was for Dunkirk then punishment could come. Perhaps they have an automated system that filters suspicious activity so employees don't have to check every transaction.

Basically, if you like this service don't try and find ways around their rules.

I think on their web site it says you can see the same movie again. Planning on seeing TLJ more than 5 times (if it doesn't make me sad the first 3 times)

You should be able to as long as it's different days. I don't see why someone couldn't

^before you couldn't see the same film over and over. What I used to do was reserve for another film and just use the card on the film I wanted to rewatch.

My card # is on my app, hope I get it on Monday...
