I love it when two completely uncompromising groups of people come together, lol.

Personally, I greatly disliked the prequels. But I'm not going to call anyone a Lucas Legionnaire or Apologist or whatever, lol. Nor would I hope to be called a hater simply because I disliked those three movies and thought they added very little to the Star Wars universe as a whole. The EU did a great deal more to add to the mythos, IMO.

I also prefer the original trilogy without 99% of the changes. Fixing those black borders around cockpit windows resulting from outdated green screen tech? That's cool. Changing the Emperior hologram in ESB? No problem with that here. Changing the dialogue in that scene? That's where it lost me. Getting rid of that annoying smudge on the Emperor's cloak? It took them long enough. Hayden force ghost? NOOOO...

So a few of the purely cosmetic things I approved of, but on the whole I didn't really think the alterations were necessary and I'd rather watch the original trilogy in its unaltered form than watch the special edition with a whole lot of stuff I don't like and only a little bit I did. I think the Special Editions should be out there, but I think the theatrical cuts should be available as well, with equivalent PQ. This is the standard practice for nearly all films with director/special cuts... Alien series, Blade Runner, LOTR, etc.

Can we give the Prequel Wars a break for once? Focus on the topic at hand people.

link? That quote if it happened would have been a 100 page thread in and of itself if it had been spoken by him. Almost certain it has been stated ad nauseam that the only way we were going to get the unaltered original trilogy was when Lucas died. Even then most had the fear he would put it in his will that his children would not be allowed to release them.

They must not rush this and get a quality writer. Being Disney though I have my doubts. They only care about money. Potc 2/3, IM2, and The avengers were all rushed. Joss Whedon's skills saved the avengers.
Disney didn't rush 'The Avengers'. That's all Marvel's side, not Disney's. they just release the movies.

It's in the Blu-ray release thread somewhere. It's nothing more than I just told you.

He said they were coming eventually. That they need a lot of work. And they're not a priority.

Don't people learn? Disney bought Marvel Marvel and left them alone to do their thing and from the looks of it, the next round of films are gonna be AMAZING.

That being said, I don't see why anyone would be upset that Disney bought Lucasfilm. They're not going to pay that much money and totally destroy the franchise. They didn't do it with the Muppets, they didn't do it with Marvel and they're dang sure not going to do it here.

Exactly. People were posting the same wild crazypants ideas about the Disney/Marvel deal. How it was so terrible.

And for the most part, none of it has come to past. Marvel is still run as pretty much an independent company.

And with Lucas owning 1/25 of Disney now. And Kathleen Kennedy in charge of Lucasfilm... there is nothing to fear.

Yeah, I know. He is 100% beyond any help, and there is no reasoning with ....like him.

I really hope Steven Spielberg gets to direct the new Episode.

It would make total sense.

I am excited to see how good digital versions of old Luke, old Han, and old Leia will be.

Yes, Disney will go with Digital Actors in these...with mo-cap behind for emotion.

Depending on how involved Lucas is as a "consultant", it's still possible we may get a Luke/Gungan alliance with Jar Jar serving the Obi-Wan role.

The Clone Wars TV series, which is excellent. He may not direct or write all episodes, but he certainly is a major driving force for them and steers the writing and design process. You can tell as much from watching the making up with the makers.

Actually, IMHO, the Clone Wars series fit Star Wars perfectly, and it is not directed by George. It is overseen by a genuine fan, and recently they even gave us Snaggletooth in an Episode!!!

I mean WOW...how more true a fan could you get than to add a story with good old Snaggletooth!

Bay cannot be allowed to lay his filthy paws anywhere near this property.

I'd be very surprised if Spielberg wasn't granted a crack at this (especially now with Kathleen Kennedy in charge of Lucasfilm).

You call yourself a true fan and call him Snaggletooth!? That's the infamous Sears Blue Snaggletooth. That's Zutton!

Also, that top picture isn't Zutton. That's actually Rachalt Hyst. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Rachalt_Hyst

And it will be shot like a home movie.
