I loved Kong: Skull Island and both Godzilla films so I am glad they are still going ahead with this one.

Me too. Even though the Monsterverse ends with this one, I'm super glad they started production of this movie before Godzilla: KOTM even came out. Because it underperformed, it might have put this movie in doubt.

Well it was already deep in production when Godzilla King of the Monsters was released so it was always going to go ahead.

Thankfully. It might actually do decent bank this time, too. The deceptive marketing on the first LPG film and 5 year gap coupled with all the screenplay problems definitely hurt KotM's box office returns.

It's the director that worries me most. With the exception of The Guest, Adam Wingard's films are crammed full of sick making 'shakycam' and amateurish editing. I actually had to shut my eyes during parts of You're Next it was almost unbearable in the cinema. My biggest complaint [though I had many] about GKOGTM was that it didn't allow us to really enjoy the monster fights with all that stuff in the way, long distance shots etc. I can't see this being rectified with Godzilla Vs Kong....in fact I have fears it will be even worse with Wingard in the director's chair, though in a somewhat different way. I hope to be proved wrong though of course!

I join your concern. I truly haven't been that much of a fan of Wingard.
You're Next was highly overrated and overhyped and The Guest was just decent enough.
I'm still willing to give this a shot to see what he can achieve and hopefully he won't pull what Gareth Edwards did.

Thumbs up

Adam Wingard has made some crap, no doubt. But You're Next and The Guest were really good, so he definitely has talent. I remain optimistic (I really like all three previous MonsterVerse films).

Youre Next and The Guest are fantastic! Its a real bummer his following films have dipped in quality. Hoping GVK brings him back to form.

Me, too. I even enjoyed the divisive G2014, though it could've been so much better.

It would have been great if it didn't focus on Aaron-Plank Johnson for the second half.
(also, are you the same KManX89 on Toho Kingdom?)

I didn't really have a problem with it, but KOTM was definitely the better film.

I've enjoyed both Godzilla and Kong, but im not sure who i want to root for in this film.
