Hoping we can get some more details soon. So the US set is 8 discs and the German (according to amazon.de listings which I take with a pinch of salt) is only 6 discs.

If I am reading it right the US version contains

Disc 1: Mad Max Blu ray
Disc 2: The Madness of Max DVD
Disc 3: The Road Warrior Blu ray
Disc 4: The Road Warrior New Bonus Features? Blu ray
Disc 5: Beyond Thunderdrome Blu ray
Disc 6: Fury Road Blu ray
Disc 7: Fury Road Black & Chrome & Bonus Features Blu ray
Disc 8: Fury Road 4K

Can someone confirm?

I was a kid back then so I didn't know the movies, but everytime I would read about the 3 Mad Max movies, it was like "the 1st two are masterpieces, and the third just look like a whole different beast in a poor campy way".

As for Superman III... As Dragon wrote, it's not a divisive movie, just a quite bad one. The issue isn't so much being tonally different from the previous movies, just... not being a good movie. It tries to be funny but most of the time falls flat (even Reeve himself spoke badly of some gags), it looks bad, it's not especially well acted either and Pryor seems insanely shoed-in. It has its moments, but 10 good minutes doesn't make a 125 min (!) movie.

It's obviously not Superman IV bad, but it certainly isn't a good movie in the end.

Thanks for name check in your comment

I agree with you on Thunderdrome, it's not in the same league as the first two but still has some good moments.

I really want extras for Beyond Thunderdome, if this set doesn't have that I will be severely disappointed.

Sorry to be a party pooper but I have heard nothing about new extras for Thunderdome. Hopefully news will emerge of some though.

Looks right to me. I'm surprised the new Road Warrior interview isn't on the same disc as the movie. The 2013 disc isn't even half full; there's more than enough room for a new interview.

Aweseome, thanks for that :-)

I'm a region B only at the moment (hello from the UK) and I know Warner don't usually lock their discs but would prefer the German release as it will be less import costs. I'm not 4K equipped so don't mind losing out on that but wondering which other one will be missing if the listing for six discs is correct.

I looked on Best Buy's website and they were listing the release as December 6th but now have it as not yet announced so I'm guessing October 25th is the actual release date.

I wonder if the German release will have the Road Warrior bonus features on the movie disc. This could be the case since I believe the German release will have the vintage Thunderdome extras as well.

Edit: I just looked at the Amazon.de page and it seems six discs is incorrect. The product description lists seven discs. All the same as the US release, just without the 4K disc. It does list a 45 minute Thunderdome bonus feature though. I really hope Warner puts that on the US release.

Yes, the amazon listing says that the German set has a documentary for Thunderdome but I think we all trust Amazon listings as far as we can throw them, it'd be an odd turn of events if the German set has the Thunderdome doc but the US doesn't.

I'm undecided right now, as I've sold my Fury Road 4K disc in anticipation of getting the US set but it'd suck donkey balls if it was missing said documentary. I'm certainly not pre-ordering any of these sets until this is ironed out.

I'm going to play the wait and see game for this set. I'd love to get the complete set if it has the Beyond Thunderdome documentary along with all of the other stuff. I also don't want to pay more than $50 for the set.

I can do without the 4K disc as I don't have a 4K player so am crossing my fingers for the German set to be 7 discs.

Yes, I'd already looked at that but what threw me was them listing it as 6 discs in the specs and it didn't have a disc breakdown IIRC, but now they seem to have elaborated upon it somewhat and it clearly has 7 discs listed, so basically it's the same disc count as the US set minus the UHD.

Still as clear as mud as to where the Thunderdome documentary is situated though. Is it on the Road Warrior bonus disc? The B+C edition of Fury Road? New pressing of Thunderdome - though why wouldn't they just do a new pressing of Mad Max 2 to include its own documentary? hmmm.

I heard the German release had new extras for Thunderdome but of course as time progresses this seems less likely.

FYI, Apple may have jumped the gun. They just updated the iTunes Extras menu and it reflects the BLACK & CHROME edition. While you can't access it yet, I'm think it's going to be sooner rather than later...
