R* is usually one who manages to keep a lot under wraps so it is possible they might have it up their sleeves or at least that's what most are hoping.

The sad fact is that they could very well do the game and how Square Enix did it with Kingdom Hearts remaster where they lost the assets but R* won't commit.

Is it true that MS XBox One paid an exclusive sum of money to keep RDR on the XB1 and 360? I know it's just an HD update but even so, no PS4 version.

That said, I am certain that many people who didn't play L.A. Noire the first time around will buy into it now, with all the 4K hype surrounding it, so they'll be making money no matter what.

Who knows....Rockstar is far more "leak proof" than most, so we might just end up getting blindsided by a RDR Remaster announcement close to RDR 2's release.

.......I know....wishful thinking....

I dunno, LAN bored me to tears, it was so tedious looking for clues, driving from place to place and going through the interrogations that I never even finished it.

While I liked the game and the open city and graphics, I kind of felt the same way at times, though I did get stuck on a puzzle and had no idea where to go next to solve it. I should load it back up and finish the game, having gotten close to the 3/4 point I believe.

Even so, hopefully LA Noire's HD version will pave the way for RDR on PS4 by 2018.

I doubt it. RDR is available on PS Now, after all. The Xbox One "version" is just the 360 version running under emulation. Rockstar hasn't announced any HD remaster or port for current gen systems, or PC for that matter. Maybe we'll get one by the time RDR2 comes out, but also maybe not. We just don't know yet.

I hope they let us customize our horses in this games. Like being able to buy and put saddles on the horses and be able to make them go faster with like ability points or something like that. I hope they bring back Bounty Hunting missions.

Thanks, I didn't know it was available on PS Now, though I was looking for a disc version like the XB1 has.

Rockstar has responded... but people don't listen. RDR code is a mess and they are not able to port it to PS4 or PC without a complete remake and that isn't something that Rockstar is interested in doing currently.

How is a studio can’t fix their games code that they made? If that is 100% true then I question Rockstars ability it make games. I don’t see how a code that they built is so messed up that they cant do a remaster of the game.

The PS3 was notorious to develop for because of the Cell Architecture I heard, so if that was the code they had to translate into PS4 code for RDR, then that's probably why they haven't bothered with a port upgrade to PS4. That makes sense actually to me and was one reason Bethesda took a lot longer to work on the PS3 Fallout 3 DLCs long after they shipped for XBox 360, which is more like a PC for development.

Forgot PS3 and the Cell architecture in this because PS4 and Xbone are X86 architecture and if possible, they would have just used the Xbox assets and sorted them out for a remaster. Why would you go back to PS3 version when it's a much simpler task to do the above?

Also, they can claim the code is a mess, but I refuse to believe a studio of R* size could possibly make such a monumental mess as to not be able to sort the code out with due care and effort.

Square Enix literally remade Kingdom Hearts from scratch because they LOST the assets. R* has little to no excuse. There's definitely demand and if I had to lay a good guess at what's going on. R* are remastering LA Noire to try and group some more quick cash together and justify a case for RDR remaster to the higher up execs.

but as RaijinUT said

"RDR code is a mess and they are not able to port it to PS4 or PC without a complete remake and that isn't something that Rockstar is interested in doing currently."

Can they do it? Probably but it isnt worth it to them. That in and of itself would be a labor intensive project and their resources are rightfully devoted to RDR2 and GTAV online. Going into 2018, they will have released 0 original games since GTAV in 2013. They havent even been putting out new titles; why would they do that undertaking? I can see why it just wouldnt be a priority

I’ve google that but I’ve never seen anything official coming from Rockstar about the code being a mess. Every where on the internet I look people are saying Rockstar has never came out and officially said that’s true and that it’s just a rumor.

The PS Now version I'm guessing is only a port of the game with higher resolution? Not sure what the full story is. But agreed that it would've been nice to get an enhanced graphics RDR on PS4 as was done separately with Tomb Raider PS4, which originally premiered on PS3, and same for Last of Us Remastered, etc.

I was wondering about the source too. Rockstar is usually very quiet.

Sony just have it running on a PS3 somewhere and stream the video from the PS3 to your PS4 and send your controller input to the PS3. The idea is that you can play PS3 games "on" your PS4 without Sony having to cram hardware-based backwards compatibility into the console, which theoretically would be nearly indistinguishable from having a PS3 hooked up to your TV. It usually doesn't work as well as intended, but if you have a fast Internet connection, it might be okay.

In anticipation of RDD2, I actually made an effort to play and finish RDD over the last month on my PS3. I can't believe that...

[Show spoiler]John Marston dies at the end. BUT, I suppose it was nice to play the Stranger mission to learn that Jack gets his revenge years later.

I've played all of the stranger missions. Now, I have to go back and get all of the outfits. If I look at the trophy list, I'm sure I have a bazillion more things to do if I want to platinum this game. Probably not since I'm trying to "finish" all of the games in my PS3 library before moving on to "finishing" everything in my PS4 library. I'm going to be gaming forever and wouldn't even have to buy any new games in 2018. #20DollarsOrLessForNewGames

I tried replaying it not too long ago but it was far too clunky for me to enjoy it. I guess I was spoiled by GTA V.

Same. My first time playing (completed) was on the 360. I tried again on PS3 not too long ago and it seemed to look and run a lot worse than I remember the 360 version running. I could only stand it for about 35 minutes.

I have a projector and it was really dark. WAY too dark. There were times when I tried to use the rifle with the scope and I couldn't find my targets. I had to find or create a save spot, and keep saving (to move the in-game clock forward 6 hours at a time) to get to morning so I could play during the day.

I hope RDR2 doesn't have two things:
  • "Come back between 6:00 AM and 8 PM to complete this mission."
  • "You have to be on flat ground and NOT in a settlement, town, city, or gang territory to create a campsite."
