Also, his situation has become rather public within the boutique home media industry, with other label heads commenting on it and Kino dropping him...I doubt he'd find too many others interested in assisting him should Code Red withdraw.

I theorize that Dark Force essentially allows Code Red the ability to maintain a larger storefront while Bill Olsen is in Los Angeles, which is where DeFalco lives. Instead of just shutting down the Code Red cartel storefront, he can also operate thru Dark Force's.
I agree. DF already outright stated they are continuing the Code Red partnership. I think a lot of the communication has been purposefully controversial, probably DeFalco channeling his wrestling knowledge of "working the crowd" to generate publicity. "Getting rid of Code Red" simply could mean getting rid of the overwhelming stock of Code Red titles on the Dark Force cartel - there are tons more Code Red movies there than Dark Force, so it makes sense for Dark Force to move these units as to not appear to be Code Red's cartel. Just like "Getting rid of The House that Vanished" means selling copies and not destroying the master or something, heh.

Without Code Red DF doesn't have much of a leg to stand on that I see, unless DF partners with another smaller label. I also don't see anything that happened which would cause Code Red to "withdraw." DF has been operating their label very much like CR operates theirs, so I am not sure where the conflict would be for CR. Pulling THTV due to complaints is right out of the Code Red playbook, CR did the same with Necromancy and Vampire's Night Orgy when complaints about those titles surfaced.

I can't see any other label partnering with Dark Force. DeFalco has nothing to bring to the table (other than the films he's directed), and he's a PR nightmare. I think literally the only advantage he allows Code Red is that he is shipping out orders for him via a second cartel site. No disrespect to DeFalco, but his role seems to be more of "Secretary to Code Red" than "President of Dark Force".

The whole PR nightmare thing is kind of the Code Red style, though, if you follow that thread

CR could use a larger social media voice (even if controversial) and help with shipping stuff out so it doesn't take a month+ to get something off the cartel. DF may have also provided some financing we are unaware of which I am sure CR could use as well.

If DF/CR complement each other's strengths and weaknesses then it is a good partnership regardless of the individual skillset of each label.

Code Red needs no financial assistance. Dark Force does use Code Red's PR model, but it would never be acceptable to the majority of other labels and would be deemed unacceptable by most. It yields short term, smaller gain results than more proven models. No other label would be likely to bring DeFalco aboard. He would serve no purpose.

I am sure they wouldn't turn down cash if offered in exchange for being able to share their licenses.

It would depend on who was making the offer more than how much the offer was. That is the Code Red way.

Everybody hurry over to the Cartel and get this amazing cult film for free when you purchase THTV! It's the U.S. drive-in cut that played along with Don't Look in the Basement and Last House on the Left.

Wrong Side of Town with the WWE's own Dave Bautista!

Can also get Code Red's Nightfall or Cheerleaders Wild Weekend free which is pretty cool if you don't have those discs already, especially for fans of bad cinema:

I would be slow to assume that Dark Force has actually paid for anything they've received from Code Red. More likely Code Red is providing all this and taking a significant piece of the action.

Ruined, you've got over 10% of the posts in this thread for this new label that you love and cherish so. Just doing a quick check of all the other label threads, no one poster is even close to 10% of the total posts in any of them, not even Bill in the CR thread. Only the Kino insiders in the KLSC thread reach these heights and they get paid to do it.

You should at least be able to change the title under your username to "Dark Force Superfan" or something to that effect for your troubles. Maybe even "Dark Force Insider".

Any other stats you can bust out with? Maybe posts per hour rate of top 5 posters? Average length of post? This is really useful info!

your PAR (posts above replacement) is through the roof in this thread, and your wRC+ (weighted replies created) is also trending at all-star levels

BTW, anyone else thing the DARK FORCE intro logo is cool?

The bottom-aligned letterbox image on my projection screen really caught me off guard. Somewhat cheesy graphics, but the placement of the image was quite cool.

Ruined has established he doesn’t care if blu rays are upscales (Raro’s Di Leo sets) or if the films are actually licensed from their owners (THTV). What he does care about is that Arrow are a corporate evil and that David De Falco is not being recognised for his marketing genius.

He will come up with so called “logical alternatives” all day long to defend whatever BS position he wants to take at any time.

I can't believe that people are still attempting to engage with, or even acknowledge the continued existence of, this Textbook Troll after his years of disruptive threadcrapping. He thrives on negative attention, as it the only context in which anyone would ever give any of his posts a second, or even a first, glance. By responding to him, you guys are only feeding into his odd, lonely, little games and validating his pointless, single-minded existence and hopelessly muddled viewpoints.

The sooner the rest of you add him to your Ignore List, the sooner he will simply fade away, back to the obscurity from whence he emerged.
