I didn't notice the "off" framing in the remastered Studio Canal BD's, so I will have to really do a comparison (is there a link/post that illustrates it?). One thing I did notice with the UHD is the Tri-Star logo is gone, replaced by Studio Canal's.
Transfer for 2 really looks nice. Less "orangey" than the remastered SC Blu-Rays, really good detail from the sections I checked -- visually I liked what I saw from spending more time with it last night. On the audio side, I suppose there may be hope that the Euro (UK/France/Germany) release may have the original 2.0 tracks because THE FOG and THEY LIVE's UHDs both do (and they weren't announced to have them). Fingers crossed. Last edited by DMRI2006; 11-01-2018 at 02:31 PM. |

The original proper mix is the 4.2 of the 70MM engagements.

Is the 2.0 track when played back in surround essentially the 4.2 mix? Short of being able to hear that mix at home, the 2.0 track at least employs discrete, directional activity when properly matrixed in surround. The 5.1 remix folds most of the audio into the center channel. Its not unlistenable but if you have heard the 2.0 surround track you know its not right. Theres hardly any surround activity and many l/r stereo pans are confined to the center instead. It also sounds like the entire dynamic range has been clipped.

How soon can we expect reviews from Highdefdigest, HTF, Avsforum and Blu-Ray.com?

Is anyone a little miffed that the old Tri-star ident wasn't included? Seems like there's always some kind of catch with the releases of the Rambo films over the years. Oh well, at least there's one ident there (Studio Canal). The old DVDs instantly started with the explosion at the rock quarry!

Eh, people aren't asking what's better, they're asking what's the original. As with Atmos, just because it got remixed into 6-track doesn't mean it's the be all and end all of how the movie should sound. A 35mm Lt/Rt mix is just as "original" as your 70mm mix. One or the other is fine by me but I can't stand the way that you sweep the 35mm mixes under the carpet - then again I should really be used to it by now.
