I haven't gotten a shipping notice yet but last week I went ahead and canceled my Amazon preorder and went with Diabolik. I've just reached the point where I don't trust Amazon with my Arrow Limited editions. More than half of them have arrived damaged in some form or another. Some of the damage I can live with, some I've returned, but saving a few extra dollars isn't worth the headache or assault on my OCD anymore. Plus there's at least a chance I may get it early since my Two Evil Eyes from Diabolik has already shipped.

I pre-ordered from Amazon on July 30th and I got an e-mail saying that I'll get it on Halloween. This is the first time ever for me not getting release date delivery. Then again, I go on Amazon's site and it still says they'll notify me of when I can expect delivery.

Great...sigh. i got an email about ship date for the blob that a preordered...that too was halloween and not release date. Ive gotten no email regarding awil sadly

It's a real crap shoot with Amazon. I've never gotten Arrow titles on release date from them, especially the LEs. That's why I buy my Arrow stuff exclusively from Diabolik.

I just ordered from diabolik. After checking out and paying...it lists it as "backordered". Did i just screw myself????

If you're talking about in the orders section of your account, that's normal. All preordered items show up as backordered until they've shipped.

I'm pretty sure that's the same, though I don't have an order email to check right now.

To add some additional perspective, I ordered American Werewolf along with the other October titles on July 26th. I got a shipping notification on Monday morning, but when I look in my account, those items still show as backordered.

I'm hoping everything is good. I checked another preorder I made from Diabolik back in September for Trilogy of Terror 2 that I already received and the confirmation email didnt say backordered on it for that title. Ugh, fingers crossed.

From Inside the booklet:

AMWIL has been exclusively restored by Arrow Films. The original camera negative was scanned in 4K at NBC Universal Studios. The film was graded and restored in 2K resolution at Silver Salt Restoration, London. The grade was approved by John Landis.

The original mono mix was remastered from the original mag reels at Deluxe Audio Services, Hollywood.

my big question is, how good is the packing from DD? if is crap like amazon I prefer order it from Diabolik.

or any coupon of DD to down more the price? to tempts me to order it from DD.

Purchased a copy earlier today from diabolik dvd...and still have my Amazon pre order from last month. I want this damn movie! Lol. Im just hoping i can get the diabolik copy in time to cancel the amazon order. If not...i guess ill eventually have an extra copy to sell.

Very interesting! I recall hearing somewhere that the master used for the 35th Anniversary BD was a 6k scan of the OCN finished and filtered in 4k. So Arrow's restoration is indeed, entirely new and not based on the previous one.

Unless the previous one wasn't really done in 6K, but 4K.. The Universal transfer and Arrow's look like they come from the same master, but were just graded/restored differently.
