We are aging out and we do eventually need replacing. I can't wait until people stop holding fictional universes to the standards and tastes of 50 year-old sweat hogs.

BTW- I'm saying this as a 45 year-old sweat hog.

This shite is trite and so tired. If you're middle-aged and you still have the energy and/or time to argue about whether or not Leia orbiting and approaching Tatooine while being chased in the Tantive IV by Vader means she visited Tatooine, your life is amazing. Please be grateful.

This. We are closing in on ten years since Force of Awakens. None of the stuff is going to satisfy certain people, move onto to other things or take your time an energy and create something new. Many of people created things because something they like no longer exists.

I will be 50 in August. I hope to never become Abe Simpson and to be able to adjust and move out of the way.

She made "Russian Doll", one of the most critically-acclaimed shows of the past decade.

Does that pass the nerd threshold of acceptability? No?

She played Expanded Universe role-playing games as a kid and was talking about the source books at Celebration.

Good enough for me.

Let's see an episode before whining like sexually-frustrated adolescents.

Marvin, it's every single thread...christsakes....It's supposed to be entertainment!

If you're not entertained, find something else to entertain you or entertain yourself, for crying out loud. It's really no more complex than that.

I was just on a panel yesterday that was talking about Corporate IP vs Indie. Of course the Corporate IP is going to chase every angle and every dollar. They have shareholders to attend to. If the product that is being served up is not to your liking there are 1000's of other things that would love almost 10 years worth of attention. Boling things down to box office and viewership is boring. Neither of those things mean anything to a single viewer. You know who likes those things, the shareholders.

New Star Wars show The Acolyte's sets were so big and detailed, the actors needed a map to get around and were literally “tripping on mushrooms”

Spot on. Middle-aged 80's kids still clutching their pearls over Star Wars and its legacy might care to ask themselves why their parents' generation never mobilised to try and make the Howdy Doody or Muffin The Mule cinematic universes a reality, or took to the equivalents of Facebook or Reddit to berate Disney for destroying the Davy Crockett franchise by pushing insidious PC agendas over storytelling.

Star Wars endures by renewing its audience from one generation of kids to the next to the next. Disney aren't interested in 'uniting the fanbase' or somesuch fanspeak. They're interested in creating the next one.

I wonder if the older generation was upset about Daniel Boone being called a stupid jerk.

That's just it. I WANT kids 100 years from now to still love Star Wars, and Star Trek, and LotR, and DC, and Marvel. I don't want these things to be relegated to the domain of bitter old-timers who failed to realize that it wasn't about them anymore.

Yes and there are things like The Expanse and other shows to fill those gaps. Oh wait those shows were canceled because people ignored them to complain about other things. All shucks.

Wasn't ignored in this apartment, I can promise you that.
Great show, but, I definitely take your point.

Plenty of options out there to be enjoyed.

Shows like that and may others have paid the price over the years, from being ignored. So when people talk about and watch things they do not like, what does that tell the execs.

One show I am getting ready to jump into is Outer Range.

just got back from the screening a little while ago - they gave us a promo poster, good quality of the payoff poster, popcorn and soda.

won't get into plot points since it doesn't air until tomorrow but I am sure people ... will have thoughts.

can't give any definitive judgement until the whole season plays out but nothing made me wretch or roll my eyes. some clunky dialogue, delivery but very minor and attribute it to writing as the direction, while nothing special, is competent.

I would say to anyone on the fence, give it a shot. for those of you already put off by the trailers and entrenched in that decision, this won't change your mind (not sure what would).
