Hey BOA - is 1999.co.jp a decent place to order figures? They seem to have pretty good prices on pre-order figures. Looking at their site it almost seems like they're more a forwarding service that buys from the cheapest source for you. The one figure I'm interested in getting is about $80 less there than any of the other Japanese figure sites I've seen it on. Do they hit you with outrageously jacked shipping rates instead to make up for it? They won't tell you up front what the shipping cost will be for a pre-order; they bill you that separately later.

I ran a test and I see they will accept my BoA Visa card for a Cast Off figure.

1999 is Hobby Search, they're not a forwarding service but an online retailer. They're not as big as say AmiAmi, but they get good business. I've had only a few orders from them in the past as I order nearly everything from AmiAmi. Some of my recent pre-orders there were only because I took too long to make up my mind and AmiAmi had closed pre-orders while Hobby Search still had them open. My experience with them is positive.

Something important to note, unlike AmiAmi or some other Japanese online retailers, they charge you when the item comes in-stock whereas AmiAmi will send you an invoice where you have 7 days to pay. You may run into some issues with 3D Secure at AmiAmi and may have to use PayPal instead. Hobby Search just like most Japanese shops tend to not allow pre-order cancellations, and if you try to cancel an order, you may result in your account getting permanently banned.

Here's them even noting this on some pre-orders I have.

As for why you won't know the shipping cost beforehand, they have no way of knowing how big the box will be until the item is in their warehouse. Everything is based on the size and the weight of the item(s). These days I'm regularly paying 10,000+ yen EMS for shipping for orders with multiple items at say AmiAmi. That Haruna figure is going to probably be 10,000-11,000 yen as Momo (which I pre-ordered at AmiAmi rather than Hobby Search) cost 10,540 yen to ship via EMS. That racing girl figure probably will cost me 12,000 yen or more to ship via EMS.

BTW, I recently paid 24,000+ yen EMS for this through AmiAmi. That's how much international shipping costs have soared recently. The box the order arrived in was quite big and heavy, it was the 180 size.

Some of the other sites are charging around $50 for shipping for that figure, so as long as it isn't more than $130 or so for shipping from Hobby Search, I'll be good, since the figure price is so much less. It is a 1/5 size figure, but is in a sitting position, and doesn't have any accessories or a base, so it shouldn't have a overly huge box.

I'd actually rather pay for it now, because who knows what the exchange rate will be 6 months to a year from now.

I haven't used AmiAmi because like you said I probably can't use a Visa card there, and I don't have an Amex card. Even Hobby Search only allows Paypal if you use Amex or Discover through it.

So this is the third pre-order figure I made, to try out Hobby Search, yet another figure with a little kink to it - a Gyaru girl with swimsuit tan lines and body piercings! I'm not normally one who cares for body piercings on a girl, but there's a few reasons I picked this figure:

First, the tentative release date for this figure is February 2025, so hopefully not too long of a wait for this to arrive.

Second, small boobies! So rare to find those on 18+ teenage figures - they're mostly on really young child figures, which I'm not into at all.

Third, bathing suit tan lines! I'm totally turned on by a girl with a dark tan but with super-white skin under the swimsuit - I just wish this figure had a darker tan, and the tan lines were from a bikini rather than a one piece gym swimsuit.

And lastly, from the description online, it said that she not only has the ball piercing on her tongue and barbell piercings on her nipples, but she also has a bar piercing down below - that means her lower area should have a lot of nice detail to it too, just like her nipples do with the barbells!

"About 70% of the figures by this manufacturer break due to poor manufacturing." That's some gacha numbers right there. Hopefully it arrives in one piece. It's a shame that brand has such a high break rate because their figures look pretty good and are lewder than most.

And if you're really unlucky they force you to pay $450 for DHL for no good reason other than the size of the box is 1cm too big or 100g too heavy . Use caution when preordering from overseas shippers, back in the day I used to be able to predict what shipping cost beforehand, these days you just get screwed, especially if the box is large, and the boxes get bigger all the time.

They do have a ROUGH idea how big the box will be but sometimes manufacturers forget about international shipping when designing their latest anime trophy.

It's getting really hard to continue this hobby/money pit. At the very least I'm gonna stop pre-ordering.

I've used a Visa debit card with AmiAmi since the beginning, though over the past few years, I sometimes ran into issues with 3D secure and thus had to pay with PayPal instead (with that same Visa debit card attached to it). That order I showed with the very expensive shipping was paid for with my Visa debit card, was very surprised as really expensive orders would usually give me the "3D secure authentication failed, please use a card that supports 3D secure".

Might be related to the fact I was having 3D secure issues with a different place as I was ordering merch from a fanartist based out of Taiwan (ASLE) and the shop used, Manga-Agent was from Hong Kong. They didn't allow PayPal, so I was left having to call that number that's brought up ((866) 253-1752), had to verify a bunch of things to prove it was me, everything then went through. Maybe now I won't have issues with 3D secure anymore as it led to me being signed up?

Some relevant reading on said phone number which I found when Googling it to make sure if it was safe to try. Visa and such need to do a better job making things not look like phishing.

Yeah, I'm aware it's an Insight figure (as is the Girl in the Locker figure I just pre-ordered), and I see all the warnings on every figure website about the issues with imperfections and breakage, but I received my first Insight figure just a few months ago, the 1/4 scale Girl in the Bath, with no issues whatsoever, so I'm willing to chance it. Besides, I'm a very handy person and already have a good bit of experience in repairing and modifying figures, just from buying some of those lower quality Chinese repros, so if I do have to make repairs to any of the Insight figures I get, I'll be prepared. Don't worry, j*sm is an excellent glue - it sticks to everything!

Lol, well I'm on a roll now - since I was talking about tanlines, I got all hot and bothered, and ended up picking up a used 1/4 scale bunny figure to satiate my desires some. It's shipping from Japan and I should get her by the middle of January. This figure is large, almost 14" across. She would fit in my display cabinet but she'd take up a large amount of shelf space, so I may have to display her somewhere else - she'd make a nice centerpiece for my dinner table, don't you think?! Unfortunately she only has bare boobies, with no visual access below, but she is hella-cute and her tanlines are very noticeable!

I have her plus the Lilith Store exclusive Black Outfit version of her. The shading is a little off on both versions but they are nice figures in my opinion. Her adult age design is nice too. Thankfully she did not get her Mom Shiranui’s watermelons.

yes, I've seen the version with the black outfit (I actually have an uncensored image I found of that one as my desktop wallpaper right now!) and also a version with the red outfit plus black fishnet stockings - but I wanted the version I got specifically for the tan lines. And yes, thankfully she doesn't have watermelons, or I wouldn't even take a second look at her. The size boobies she has is about the maximum size I would want my figures to have, since for me it's the smaller the better. I love the bold contrast of her vivid white boobies next to her nicely tanned skin - and all that gorgeous hair everywhere, too!

That set of her and Illya were the first figures I saw years ago that made me actually think figures might be worth collecting at some point once I had money. It might be time. I imagine these are only available secondhand now. Their's and Miyu's beast style figures are also high priority targets.

The visual novel Taimanin Asagi from 2005 was the first in the series I believe. You can get it on Steam, but it's probably like 5 minutes long without also getting the 18+ content. Taimanin Yukikaze from 2011 is where Yukikaze first shows up. The most recent Taimanin game is Action Taimanin which is a gacha game that's very tamed down from the VN's.

The animated hentai version of Taimanin Asagi came out back in 2007 and is still one of the best hentai ever made imho. The legendary Teruaki Murakami was the director. Yukikaze's VN got a hentai adaptation, Taimanin Yukikaze, in 2013. Unfortunately Murakami didn't have a hand in that one.

I wouldn't recommend the VNs or the hentai to just anybody though. They're among the more hardcore offerings that exists in hentai. Name the fetish and it's probably there somewhere. Definitely not for the faint of heart or for those who prefer more vanilla.

Succubus figures are definitely among the things I want. I'd love to get one of Naruse Maria from The Testament of Sister New Devil. She's one of my favorite succubi from one of my favorite ecchi anime.

Morrigan Aensland and Lilith Aensland from the Darkstalkers video games and Etna from Disgaea are old favorites as well. They're probably my first succubus waifus.

So I got my hentai figure cabinet project completed today, it's pretty much done now except to finish filling it up with more nudie figures! I decided I needed to make it less "prominent" for unexpected visitors, so I don't have to worry about the wrong people seeing my collection.

Since the cabinet is steel and glass construction, I came up with a plan to cover up the glass windows with removable panels. After much research, I found 24"x36" blue matboard for matting framed photographs; it was thin but stiff enough to make sturdy panels, and was a fairly good match to the grey-blue color of the cabinet:



I cut each panel an inch wider and taller than the window size. Since the edge of the matboards were white, I used a blue magic marker to color the edges to blend them in. I then attached 1/2" adhesive-backed magnet tape around all the edges on the back of each panel. I had to cut 1/2" notches out of the four corners of the two side panels to avoid protruding screw heads in the cabinet sides:



Now I can just slap the panels on when I know "sensitive" visitors will be in the theater area, and easily remove them after they leave:



Here is my finished cabinet with the panels still on and the doors open. I also added 3/4" adhesive-backed black aluminum angle-stock on the front edges of the two shelves to hide the glare of the light strips behind them:

I've posted uncensored photo spreads of most of my figures in the cabinet right here in this thread, you just have to go back though the thead to see them. The 1/4 scale bunny figure on the top of the cabinet is topless and has an open crotch, so everything is already exposed just the way she is. She is too tall to fit inside the cabinet.
