Let me take some pics for you to show how I did it, gimme a sec.

Ah, camera's dead. In any case.

I switched a regular wall outlet I had on my back wall, the one with the Top Gun poster - with one like this:

Wired it to control that outlet - then ran the rope light power cord under the rug behind the couch - which was the PERFECT distance to make it to my couch without the lights starting. I stood the couch up, and using the hooks it came with:

I screwed the hooks to the wooden cross framing that is under the couch, about 0'-3" from the border of the couch so you can't see the rope lights themselves. I placed them around the entire perimeter of the underside of the couch. Connecting the same strand from the couch to the love seat is a little tricky - now they are connected, so I have to be careful if I move the couches around. I wrapped the strand of rope light that goes from one couch to another with black electrical tape so you can't see it for that one 5" length between couches - then did the above again under the love seat. Tada. That's it.

How long of light rope did you use? Just guesstimating like a 10 ft rope?

24'-0" in length. 10'-0"?! lol - it's around the entire perimeter of the couches, not just along one line.

Ok so it was a low ball estimate. REAL low. Then again that's what these forums are for, to ask questions and get answers (even so before a FUBAR move).

J i want to take a listen to the 684's and HTM61 but none of the very few dealers in my area carry them. the ones that do are to far. same goes for all the other brands i want to listen to, like polk RTI series( stores have the polk brand but not that series) paradigm, monitor audio, ect. some of you guys are lucky to have all those dealers around you, i would hate to have to buy speakers online just to hear them and send it back. anyways guess i'll keep looking.

Nice new pictures by the way.

Heck, I'm not even a citizen yet (just filed the application today!). I've lived here in South Florida for 14 years since immigrating from Peru.

Find them, saprano, find them!! I'd drive up to a 100 mile radius to do this. Gas is cheaper now than it was back over the summer when I was doing this research! It is worth it.

PS - settled on a bedroom set-up to pick up by year's end.

-Panasonic 46" V-series
-Marantz SR-6003 (going to give it another go despite the failure of my old 7002 - turboLAZER's SR just looks flat out gorgeous)
-Paradigm Studio 20s (no center channel - need to listen to these, I only did the Monitor bookshelves and towers lately)
-B&W M-1s as rears
-another Martin Logan Dynamo
-PS3, Marantz 5002 SA-CD player

But this is once I fix my car, lol. Besides, I'm in heaven in my living room right now. But since I'd be moving out soon, my current stuff will likely be put into a dedicated room, and the above would be thrown into the living room. Recession?! Where?!

Could you publicly share that info callas01?

I'm in the boonies too, and I'd like to know where I can go as well.

Thanks!

What brands? Usually in the brand manufacturer's website you can find the location of nearby distributors.

Hmmm, to be honest I haven't really thought about it. Because I'm in the boonies, I have decided to put my money into well received Internet Direct brands. I am looking very heavily into the Swan line, but I'm still open to pretty much anything else.

The middle of South Dakota.

The nearest Best Buy is almost 2 hours away, and they don't carry anything besides the basics. (This is in the largest city in South Dakota too!) The local HT shop only really does installs and they only deal Jamo speakers. ID speakers are really the only option.

I get bored late at night anyways.... but it you want, just about all the manufactures site have a dealer locater option, and here are some sites.

It is going to be a long drive to do some auditioning of speakers for you, but ultimately it will be worth it.

The Best Buy isn't a Magnolia, and they don't carry crap for anything new. Thanks for helping me out, it might open up some doors!
