physically.... did you mean sound?... I have only heard the monitor line....

your wife didn't like the sound of the monitors?

In that case get the 60s and tell her, "hey I need a Emo amp too.... I love you."

Sorry, I meant that she just doesn't like the look of the speakers. She doesn't really care what they sound like.

And when you said "really I hardly even see a difference between the SE3 and M11.... IDK, maybe its just me..." I was just curious if you meant you hardly see a physical difference or if you hardly hear a difference in the sound.

I was just curious...

to me it doesn't seem to be much of a physical differnce between them... they are basically the same design. BUT that is my opinion.

My thoughts were that if you were to get the M11's, for $1200 list, and the 60s are $1800 list, the M11s would be a fantastic speaker, but also allow you to get an Emo Amp so that you can drive them better then the Yamaha would.

dont think I am trying to talk you out of the 60s, I was just guessing on your budget and thinking what would be the overall best setup you could get for it...

Thanks man,

I definitely appreciate the feedback and suggestion. The more I can hear from experienced members here, the more it will help me make the best decision.

If we're talking physical difference I would be comparing the SE 3's more to the Monitor 7's and they are actually a bit smaller. The monitor 11's would be huge beside an SE 3.

Size comparison - Height, Width, Depth

Monitor 11 - 43-5/16 in x 8-7/16 in x 15-13/16 in
Studio 60 - 40-1/16 in x 7-7/8 in x 11-7/8 in
Monitor 7 - 36-15/16 in x 6-1/2 in x 11-3/4 in
SE 3 - 34 in x 6-1/2 in x 10 in

Well, it looks like the 100s will be mine. Wife gave me the ok. I have't pulled the trigger in my own mind simply because I'm not completely convinced of my need for them over the 60s, due to the majority of my usage is partial tv, primary movies, and occasional music.

But I believe their may be a price increase coming April 1, I know for sure it is happening on Anthem, but not sure about Paradigm. If there is, I might as well get the 100s now.

Gates, I know you replied earlier with the same dilema. Don't you think the Sub12 is fast enough to keep up for music? Did you listen to the 60s vs the 100s before purchasing?

I know I work in a store that sells Paradigm, but rarely get time to actually demo myself.

Hey DLS, Does that Emo really make a big difference or just slightly? You read my post from before, Don't know if you remember me...You My Hero?, well anyways, I still am confused why my setup is not kicking but...I have a similar setup like yours except I'm only using a pioneer sc27...can you help a fellow paradigm brother out?

Congrats Ryan on the new 100s. Those things are beasts and I wish I had the funds to purchase some myself. They sounded great when I demo them a long time ago when I purchased my Monitor 9s of course back then I did have the funds at that time too. When I do upgrade my speakers it will be a pair of Studios thats for sure? Congrats once again.

Don't forget to take some pics and post them up when you get them.

I had the same problem...go for the Studio line if you have the cash to do it. Get the Emo later.

Smart decision especially if the price is gonna bump up a bit! You won't be disappointed with the 100's. Love the M25 by the way.. Your final setup should sound wicked with that beast!! Was lookin at one this summer but it was quite a bit over my budget.

So you're in Newmarket!! We might be visiting the in-laws there this summer.. What's the shop you work at and what other kind of gear do you guys carry? Maybe I'll stop by there and check it out if I get a chance.

I actually had the XPA-3 before I bought the Studios so I never really listened to them without an amp. I should try it though and see how much the sound quality would drop. I wonder if anyone has tried that.. I think maybe the difference might be easier to notice that way since your not trying to hear an improvement but instead losing some.

As for your setup I think if you add both room treatments and an amp hopefully the sound of you room would kick butt the way you would expect!! Nice setup by the way.. looks like a pretty big room too - whats your room dimensions?

Do you have any specifics on this price increase; specifically the amount and if this will be for all dealers?

My local guy had mentioned something about this to me when I was looking, but I didn't take him seriously because I thought he was just trying to pressure me to buy quickly.

I also found it very odd that prices of products already in-market could just go up like that. That really never happens when you think about it. Usually prices are at their highest when the product launches and they slowly creep down over time....or so I thought...

I don't have any specifics on price increase yet. If a reputable sales guy (like me) of a reputable store says that there is a price increase coming up...it is true.

I know that customers can think of it as a way to force people into buying. But how would you feel if you got a price on a speaker this month, and then went back to buy it and the price went up.

I do my best to honor where I can. But I have had some increases where I have no choice but to increase the quoted price. This happened to Def Tech in 2009 in Canada.

And yes, a price increase is for all dealers. Paradigm is very VERY uniform.

There are some price increases across the boards...

We just got our new price sheet yesterday. Our cost went up almost $200 on some things...eeek.

Sorry for the late reply. Well I never really listen to 2-channel music but I do listen to a lot of concert BD's and it follows without a problem. It should at the price we paid for it. No I've never listened to the 100's as the 60's were plenty for me and my dealer was the one telling me that it might be overkill just for movies since I never do 2-channel listening and I have a sub. I'm quite happy with my 60's !

EDIT: Just saw you're getting the 100's. Congrats ! I'm sure they'll be amazing.

Thanks for the information. I'll keep this in mind in the coming weeks when trying to finalize my speaker purchase.

I'll keep you informed Az when it comes to pricing, but I believe it is a Apr 1 increase. Do you have a dealer already that you work with. If you are looking for something let me know and we can work out a nice deal.

Thanks Gates. I have your theatre bookmarked as I love what you have done with it. I decided that once I found out there was going to be a price increase, I might as well get the big boys while the getting is good. I'm really looking forward to getting them connected to my M25 amp. That amp just oozes juice and the 100s will eat it up.

I've had a couple of people ask me for photos of my system, but to be honest, it is in a long-temporary location. I moved last summer and my new house needed a serious basement make over.

In my old place I had my projector up and my 92"screen on the wall. I had my 3 DIY towers, one on either side of the screen, and one right under it. I loved it. But now I am using my 42" plasma, one tower is flipped on its side and has the TV on top of it. I equip is on a temp DIY flexy rack and is not very neat.

But I will be doing the usual progress photos when the basement gets going and will have a nice dedicated rack, get my Black Diamond screen up, and it will look great. I really look forward to sharing it with my fellow Paradigm fans and the rest of BR.com.

Make sure you do a build thread as you go along Ryan. Basement set-ups are great for a projection set-up. That Black Diamond screen is no joke either, they are some serious $$$. Can't wait to see the 100's, that was the right choice IMO.

Hopefully you will have pics of the build up soon and the thread started.....I am looking forward to seeing it come together for you.
