Anyways, I'm glad to report a personal finding. I probably won't be able to contribute much, but it seems like this blu hasn't received any play since it's release:

Kings of Leon: Live at The O2 London.
(Amazon says 1:33/1, but blu-ray.com shows 1:78/1 and I don't know the exacts other than it fills my screen! Is that good enough? lmao

It seems like most concerts will make me happy. Is there a list of concerts that don't fill? Is that being too silly? Probably...
thank you for your words, support, and contribution! I'm glad I get to put another movie on the list that would have been mistakenly put into/or excluded from a search engine! Also, sometimes I feel like you do and get down that this thread is meant to update a list but instead becomes a debate/discussion on the validity of the list and its intentions. But, as I try to practice, I try to "live and let live..." and it's a free country and everybody's entitled to their opinion. This is an open forum and it comes with the territory. I just wish we could keep on track...but as I sift through all of it, I get a few nuggets like yours and others (QuasidodoJr gets special mention) that contribute to the list and not to the debate that makes it worth it...again thank you!

Sex and the City (1.85?)
Married Life (1.85?)

Leatherheads
Unbreakable
I'm glad you're finding the list helpful! It exists for you and for others. When starting the list, I wish I had a "helpful" resource as well that I could get physically confirmed fullscreen blurays. "FULL SCREEN" is somewhat antiquated. It still refers to DVD'S that are formatted to fit the old almost square TV sets (4:3).

I'm 100% on board with this thread. Who are these directors to tell me what aspect ratio I should be watching my films in? Jerks!

I expect them to bastardize their work to fit my technology! The consumer is always right! And if a new size TV comes out, well they better go back and change their movie dammit! I know that whenever I buy a painting, I cut off any excess to fit the frames I already own! That's the AMERICAN WAY!

I also only buy books that fit my existing bookcases. I don't care if your book is the most life-changing, best piece of literature ever written, if it doesn't fit my bookcase it's going straight into the fire!

And what's the deal with black and white movies? Who watches that crap? Last time I checked the world is in color people! Stupid directors.

Now excuse me while I go watch Nascar and crush empty beer cans on my forehead! USA! USA! USA!

The hdtv ratio was a compromise (geometric mean) between 1.33:1 and 2.40:1. But as a compromise, most existing ratios would not fit without black bars, however minimal.

Scope films are almost unwatchable on a small 4:3 screen (with, or without cropping, but for different reasons). A 16:9 display does reduce the effect of the bars. If you really don't like black bars at all, a constant height screen is the best solution.

I just watched Van Helsing and it is one of the BEST 1.85:1 ratio movies I have watched.

Just brilliant quality.

Your post is quite entertaining...but as I've said, everyone's entitled to their own opinion and you are certainly entitled and open to yours

Thanks for the support! If only...
but it's as retablo says...it most likely will never be...
if anything, they may make newer tvs/technology make it so it stretches or formats it so it won't have to have the bars but still take up the whole tv and doesn't change the intended aspect ratio...
here's hoping...

I actually think the 1.85 or full screen movies feel a lot better and are more immersive/enjoyable to watch than the blue rays with black bars even if more picture is visible. The objects are much bigger and closeups a lot better this way and it feels more in the movie.

Actually I wonder this myself...
I mean, if studios were to do this, then I think everyone who has issues with/without black bars would be happy. Those who want the full screen experience can, and those who want specific OAR black bars or not can as well.
The thing is that bluray is still a new technology and not as widespread/accepted as DVD. Maybe when it gets as popular/accepted as DVD we may see it...
But the whole sell about bluray now (as a new technology) is that they offer the best picture quality out right now; which means they need to offer the best picture aspect ratio wise as well. This is how I see it at least...

So yeah, just my 2 cents, and I admit I am not a A/Vphile so I am no expert and these could be generic/simpleton perspective, but "to each their own" right?!

Does the Mona Lisa have the option to change its size just because you have a square frame? Nope. And neither should movies. They are all works of art and should be treated as such.

Please remember that this thread's topic is about the list of movies available made in film formats that have a similar shape to modern TVs so people that prefer those type of movies can find them, not about a discussion of how movies should be viewed.

I wish all movies were shot in 1:85:1 or close. There is no reason for recent films to be shot in extreme wide screen, most films will be seen in 16x9, so directors should adjust to that aspect ratio, why not?
