The colors are a lot more vibrant. At first it seemed artificial. And I was bit unsettled that it had been pumped up. Have seen Rocky on DVD and VHS more times than I can count. On the BD, the reds are popping off the screen, but they aren't bleeding. Seemed unnatural, not what I've seen in Rocky before. Put in the DVD and noticed things that are red on the BD are orangish-red on DVD. Colors are washed out a bit on the DVD, but for me it was always part of the feel.

Watching Rocky on Blu-ray is really like watching it for the first time. All the colors are genuine. The guys in the gym have red trunks now, not orange, which I never noticed before. Even going from DVD to BD the ropes in the ring are completely different. Great upgrade! Not the best BD out there, but one think I always look for when double dipping is: is it an improvement over the DVD. Most definitely, Yes!
Hey Travis,my Friend.Good to hear your Rocky Collection arrived.
I Loved the First Two Movies and the Third wasn't too bad either.

Towards Number 4 I started losing some interest. So,I have never seen the last two at all.

But just the fact of how old and slightly low budget the first Rocky Movie was,any improvement on Blu-Ray is indeed a Blessing.
As I would think they may not have the best source material to work with.

But at least it gives you some good movies to watch and continue building your collection.

Rocky I, II and VI should be sold as a trilogy. They are great. But I can watch all of them.

Well,my Friend.I will continue my search for anymore of the Lowes Modular Pieces I can find.

Maybe somewhere someone has some to sell.Or some thats assembled and no longer being used.

Continue searching for amps and looking at speakers.

I read a review in Stereophile Magazine on the PSB Image T6 Towers.
The reviewer said they were his new $1000.00 recommendation speakers. But to hook them into his system he had to disconnect and Move his Full Time Reference Speakers(Paradigm Studio 60 v.3).
So another strong recommendation for Paradigm as well as the PSB's.

And I also need to look at some music and just some items in general.

landry_p is being so kind as to ship me some top and bottom end caps, a package of casters, and even a spare set of silver legs.Which will allow me to assemble another shelf unit.
I guess just what you would call the usual.

So did your Diana Krall Blu-Ray arrive yet?
And any more signs of interest for the Polks yet?

I have heard and read reviews that the last one was a good movie(with good pic and sound quality)

And depending on my mood I can really get into the Rocky Movies at certain times.
I am just glad that they made a good addition to your collection.

The last one is great. Worth a buy if you like 1 and 2, IMHO.

Just put in Rocky 2 and BAM! Traditional Mandarin subtitles popped up, PS3 is set to that. Then I thought about it, only Rocky II, III, IV and V are available in Taiwan, at 948NTD, $30 US. I got all for $37.99+S&H $8.98= $46.97. Almost the cost as 1 and 1/2 in Taiwan.

Wife will be happy, the DVDs I had were from the US and no Chinese subs. I'm guessing it will only be for 2-5 for Rocky. Too bad for 1 and 6, Oh well, 4 out of 6 as the Meatloaf song goes ain't bad.

I find a lot of the discs sold here are identical to the US editions. Just a half slip slip of paper over the cover with title and info in Chinese.

Glad BDs can hold so much info. Many US discs have Chinese as well as 20 other subtitles. Counted the Rocky 2 subtitles, 25. Great to help get Blu-ray out to everyone, especially to people who don't have English as their first language.

That is Good News,my Friend.

The more you can get and keep the wife interested in Movies and Music, the easier WAF would be.

I will be honest to the point that I am really getting interested in Music and Concert Blu-Rays as much as movies.

So,I have been looking into speakers and components I wouldn't have before.Like the B&W 686 and 685(even the floor standing 684)
But I would Love to find either some still new in Box B&W 700 speakers(since they discontinued that line)or new in the box 600 series speakers(that were discontinued recently)Like you were considering in the Floor Standing Models.

And Even Martin Logan is bringing out Bookshelf and Floorstanding speakers this month that start around $300.00.
And They also have the ML Speakers(called Preface)That are nice Floor Standing Models with 3 traditional style drivers and a Tweeter module similar to an Electrostatic for about $995.00 a pair.

But,I am glad that you and your wife, both, can enjoy Blu-Rays with the Mandarin Sub-Titles.

Good morning Todd. I've heard the preface's mentioned a few times lately but haven't heard them. Those would be a good buy for you i'm sure for 2 channel. They tend to require you to sit in the 'sweet' spot on most ml's or they don't sound very good out of it. I thought I was in the 'sweet spot' demoing them in chicago and I dropped down a foot and was that a night and day difference. Just something to keep in mind with ml's. Proper placement is key with them. So I'm taking a sick day. My head feels like it weighs a ton. I start to feel better i'm going rambo on devil moms @ss

I almost did a blind buy with the ML preface's... A few places on the net had them at a nice price.

As you know I went out to demo and came home with some MA's instead.

I'm glad I demo'ed instead of just buying.

Hey Sean,my Friend.
I hope you will start feeling better.

Always a Bummer to Have a Bad Cold or Sinuses that keep you clogged up.Everything sounds muffled and has an echo, like your head is in a barrell.

I tell you Sean, since she must be there due to your Cousin/room-mate.I believe me and him would have a truly serious conversation about the situation.

Just tell him,she has to go.
You got the house with just you and him,I assume(Not him and whenever she feels like staying a few weeks, her also)
I can understand the Son,its not his fault, and he didn't ask to be in this situation.
Shame he has to deal with a Mother who sounds as if she may be a mother(if you know what I mean).

But,if your Cousin doesn't do something to get her out, then just go ahead and tell her she has to go.Or she pays the other half of the rent and utilities(and you stay there for Free)

Including her buying the groceries and having dinner and breakfast cooked for you every day(if you wouldn't be worried about her trying to poison you).

I do hope you feel better my friend.

And Thanks for the info on the Martin Logans.I have only listened to their true electrostatic speakers, and that has been a few years ago.

So I Really cant remember much about them, other then a upper Mid-Range and High-End that sounded as pure as Air.
Light,Clear,Detailed,and Quick Response.

I like the Look and Idea of the Preface.
But if I went to MartinLogans,I would want the electrostatics. And that is far away from my wallet's capabilities.

Get some rest and I hope you feel better,my Friend.

Hey Todd,
I just recv'd the "Family 3-pack" of ALVIN & THE CHIPMUNKS, ICE AGE, & ICE AGE 2: THE MELTDOWN. Might have to have an All-Animation ICE AGE viewing party, as I now have all 3 & have never seen any of the Ice Age movies.

* (Also received the "new" JIMI HENDRIX "Valleys of Neptune" CD - $9.99/Amazon with over 60 minutes of unreleased 69' era material, including an 8:20 version of his classic, "Red House" !!) *

She's been splitting costs since she arrived here 1 1/2 weeks ago. She moves into a new apartment this week. I just have to put up with her nonsense till this weekend. Brandon told me about it before she came. Still doesn't mean I like her. I'm going along with it because it is temporary and it allows for Brandon to get to know his son since he didn't know about him the first 2 years of his life. It's not as bad as I make it out to be.

The cold is a major hassle. I hate being sick.

Wow! Rocky IV was by far my favorite. "I must break you." Ivan Drago was a friggin' beast. I love the whole series, and I only have "Rocky Balboa" on blu-ray, and the rest are on dvd. I plan on getting that set on blu and giving my dad the set I have on dvd and the last one on blu to him as well since I finally convinced him to buy a blu-ray player.

Hey there Todd,

Good afternoon to you on this hump day of the week. I hope you had a good week so far. Tomorrow is little Friday for some and for me who has furloughs it will be my Friday. Good in one way but sucks losing the extra money for any future upgrades for the HT.

Well have you decided if you want to get those UPAs on Audiogon. You will be 2/3rds of the way for your front stage if you do. It sounds appealing and it would make your HT thats for sure.

Well I know you will keep us posted and take care. Have a great rest of the week Todd.

Garry

Thanks for that Info HAMP.
Knowing that you auditioned them and ended up with Monitor Audio speaks volumes for what you heard.

And that alone is enough to let me know that if I were to even consider it,I would need to listen first.

Thanks Again HAMP.I really appreciate the feedback,my Friend.
