EDIT: Why does everyone have to be so hostile? Why don't people recognize that everyone has different tastes?
Except for the fact that Nolan is god awful at conveying time and space sometimes. Continuity errors and plot holes in a Nolan film are like 'splosions and underaged ass in Bay movies. Nolan has no where near the craft, attention to detail and intelligible conveyance of space & time like David Fincher has.

Tarantino doesn't rip off anyone? Are you serious?! That's all he does. He just does it far better than anyone else.

I take it you've never seen "Following." Amateurish and pretentious with awful, AWFUL acting.

Fincher has never done anything close to that bad. And he directed a Rick Springfield concert film.

I like scenes in the movie but as a whole it didnt do much for me this time. The pace is wonky as hell. Takes an hour and a half for Bane to execute his plan and break batman then in the next thirty minutes bruce is takrn to prison, three months pass, and bruce escapes and gets back to gotham. Its just weird and feels like the film is leisuring along then goes all to hell in the last hour. And after watching it at home that second fight between Bane and Batman is pretty bad. Batman never once looks like he has any control in the fight. He stumbles, he wavers, he falls, and finally he gets a lucky shot in and messes up bane's mask. I know bruce was running low on energy and had a messed up back so I get why he wasnt all uber batman, but in a film where Batman doesnt really win much I feel there shoulf have been one really triumphant moment. And I dont count him getting rid of the bomb because that is incredibly short lived and followed by batman's death, and I cant really count the end because that was a bruce wayne moment not a batman moment.

Overall, upon my third viewing I give this gilm a 6/10. Pieces work but as a whole it is weak. Its amazing how quickly it has fallen. After my firat viewing i gave it a 10/10. Two days later after my second viewing it was an 8/10, and the shimmer was wearing off. Now 4+ months later with the sheen all gone it is a 6 at best for me.
I'm so glad you posted that. I just watched it for the 1st time since the theater, and I remember thinking exactly that-for the second time. None of my friends felt that way after seeing it, and I thought it was just me. I was never crazy about the way the fights were choreographed in this series(despite the fact that I loved the films), but I was left wanting a "take that, Bane" moment. I was hoping for Bruce to come back(despite his injuries) and gradually dominate Bane in their last fight. I sorta wanted it to
end up like Bane got his ass whooped because he underestimated the "new and improved/restored" Bruce. I wanted so bad to see Bane perplexed like "Whoa, where the hell did that Bruce who's whaling on me come from?"

"Awful"? How exactly? Oh right, you haven't seen it, have you?

You mean like how The Prestige and Insomina were both boring, pretentious wastes of time?

We all need to accept that our opinion is never going to speak for everybody and let that other crap go - otherwise "you're only fooling yourself".

I hardly think using ADR to get better, clearer audio in a movie is quite the same as defrauding people by pretending to sing your songs in public.
Mad Max. The whole film was redubbed. And it suffered.

On her Majesty's Secret Service. Every line but 1 was redubbed by another actor for George Lazenby's voice. That right there is the same as Milli Vannili. A person who has the looks but a completely different voice to the general public.

Just like Goldfinger. A different actor dubbed his voice. And it has been done is plenty of films. When someone says "Man, that guy gave a hell of a performance. His acting was amazing." Then someone else says "Actually, that was another actor doing his lines because he had a heavy accent, or just can't act or whatever" it's the exact same thing as Milli Vannili. They couldn't sing, but they had the look. And people bought it just like people buy tickets to the films that have the same treatment.

I guess you haven't seen any movies made before 1970 then?

He uses a lot of trademarks of other great filmmakers such as Kurosawa and Sergio Leone (who also took things from Kurosawa).

I would argue that Memento and The Prestige are as good as any of those Fincher films you listed (my favourite which is Se7en) and while I really love his version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo I thought it wasn't well recieved? I can also see someone arguing that his Batman movies are on the same level (though I don't like comparing a blockbuster to smaller films). There is a lot in his Batman movies, perhaps more than was needed.

What interests me about your post is the fact that my favourite Fincher film is se7en and you don't even consider it among his best. That kind of proves my point (fairly obvious point actually) that taste is subjective, heck there are some that swear that the prequels are better than the OT.

I love Se7en. Just forgot to list it.
Also, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo was very well recieved. It was just bashed by butthurt fans of the Swedish film who have never read the book.

I like how this thread turned into a battle of the directors. We all know Uwe Boll is the best director in the world!

Only the parts when he was impersonating Hilary Brandt.

I....I....I'm one of those guys that thinks Se7en and Zodiac are Fincher's masterwork. And, yeah, I'm that guy that loves the Prequels more than the Originals, even though I love the Saga as a whole. It's not by much, though.

Look around. TDKR is the first of the Nolan Batman movies that isn't beyond criticism and its nobody's favorite in the trilogy. You can post all the aggregate scores and rankings and polls but at the end of the day you can't deny that it experienced a cooler reception among its audience. Well, you can (obviously) but you're only fooling yourself.
By "cooler reception" do you mean the fans are giving it an 8.5 instead of a 9? Hardly worth noting, I think. Well, the next time you see an epic trilogy where all 3 films are received w/ a perfect ten, let us know. Until then, I guess I'll just keep "fooling" myself.

Haven't seen it, but isn't it a student film shot on a few thousand dollars? I'll give him a pass on that one...

I have, unfortunately. It's ill-conceived, superfluous, and inept on pretty much every artistic level. Gives Alien 3 a pretty good run for its money, in my book...

Thanks for clearing that up because I loved Fincher`s TGWTDT and was like wtf? when I saw what vocal others thought.
