i know i have gotten much better results when i ran all the positions, when i used to have my 805 when i first set it up i only used 3 positions then ran it again using 6 sounded much better , now with my 5008 ran 8 positions sounds amazing . it may make a difference for you, doesn't hurt to try worse case scenario you still dont like it just turn it back off.
if you do like it more problem solved.

Hey thanks, I'll give it a try. I do need a new sub though, this one can't take the heat.

I'm not sure, I was doing some reading last week, and Ed keeps coming up as a good sub. I'm going to save up and try around Christmas maybe. Until then I'll just keep reading as much as I can.
I'm watching Batman right now, and everytime there is a hard hitting thud, all my sub can do is make a popping sound. LOL. I thought it was an ok sub until I got this new receiver. Now it can't keep up.

since youll have a little while research several hsu, epic ,svs, ed, there's alot of nice subs out there.

Yea, from the little bit I've read, you can't go wrong with any of those you mention. I'm also considering Lava. I only have room for one sub, so I'll likely get a 12" and put it in the left corner where my current sub is located. I think a good sub will likely fix my issue with audissey, and fill in what I feel is lacking.

no worries, I don't think they are bad... just not as clear and clean. I heard the S20s not to long ago about 2-3 weeks ago, they sounded hollow. Maybe they needed more current. But thats not to say they werent very good speakers

Thanks for that advise sandman, I ran 6 positions and it sounds much better. Bass has improved and it sounds well balanced across all frequencies. Before it sounded like Audissey pushed the EQ levels high in the mid high range, but it sounds much more balanced now. I still need a new sub though. I was watching Hulk, and it just pops and flutters in some scenes. It just can't keep up.
Thanks again.

glad to help so many people on here have helped me before it's nice to be able to return the favor.
and as far as a good quality sub it makes all the difference, have fun shopping for one, if we can help let us know.

I heard the S60s on a McIntoch amp and also the S20s on an Anthem 225 Integrated Amp. I think both could power them just fine. Although on the S20s it was not turned up too loud.

Sure wish I could use my old pair of 10" JL Audio subs I have in storage. They sure sounded good in my truck.

You actually could. you could send the sub out to an external amp on any other channel than sub and connect your JL subs to that channel. I am with oyu on that, JL subs are amazing and also musical.

Yea, I love my JL subs, just not sure how they would be for HT though. I would need to have a couple of enclosures built for them as well as they are still in their box built to fit behind a truck seat. It might be best to just buy a 12" sub and sell those if I can.
I need to take them out of the box and see what the specs are on those.

Reading through some threads I'm considering Earthquake or Lava as options.

I'm going to pull those from the box and let you know what the model and specs are for those. It's been so long since I bought them I don't even know what I have. I just know they sounded great.

I couldn't resist and I tried bidding on a HD-SUB15 on ebay, but I lost.
I'm going to keep my eye out for one though. I might try for a 12" instead, They look like decent subs for the money. Big Daddy sure seems to like them.

You are talking about the accoustic audio right?

Hey there Olivier, yes that is it. It's interesting, because I found this on ebay first, then I immediately began a search on here to find anything I could about it and stumbled upon BD's thread. I couldn't resist and bid on it. Of course 15" might be overkill for my small room anyway, so I might try to bid on a 12" unless you convince me otherwise.
