You can do a buy now on the 12 for like 198$ which is cheap, Steve use to own the 10 inch.

Yea sandman, there are so many good subs to choose from it makes things a little confusing, but the price, coupled with the testimony from those who own them really drew me towards getting the Acoustic Audio.

Yes, I did see that actually, but I think I will try a few bids and see if I can't get one cheaper. If not, I may spring for one. I did see a few of Steve's posts in that thread.

I have to say that the AA subs are OK, they are better then say the similarly priced Polk subs that Ive heard. Ill will say that towards the end of me owning mine, that the Amp started to work intermitantly. When I bought the eD and implemented the eD into the system and had both subs, I can say that the eD over powered the AA sub with ease.

Mike, if I were you, Id say just put that money aside and save for a better sub. Go for an eD, Hsu, Emotiva, or Lava. The AA sub would really just be a stop gap to an eventual further sub upgrade in the not so distant future. Youve come too far in your system upgrade to go with a sub like the AA. Be Patient my Friend.

HAHA, my wife just read my post and was like "are you talking about that little POS?" MIKE... Don't buy that sub!!!!!!!!

Thanks Steve, there is a reason why I didn't win that bid last night. You may have saved me from a devastating calamity.
Anyway, I'm looking for the best bang for the buck I can find. I think price wise Lava might be a good choice among the group.

Whip me into shape Olivier. I will soon. Last weekend I was laid up in bed with a pulled muscle in my lower back. I'm on the mend though, so I'll take some pics and post some new ones real soon. Maybe tonight if I have time.

Well if you're going to spend $400 is suggest the eD like I have. One of the best subs I've heard in the price range

Hey Steve, Mike, Olivier, and the rest of the Energy crew.

Bad news, my Pioneer Elite VSX-30 is with Geek Squad for repair. If you don't remember earlier in the year I went crazy by upgrading my TV, receiver, PS3, Energy speakers, and dual subs. Now the Elite won't power on. I think I must of blown the fuse inside so it only powers up for a split second.

Well, I won't have surround sound for 2 or 3 weeks so I'll have to just hang in there.

Sorry to hear that Mike, I guess it's time to upgrade like I did.

I am very affraid it's extremely difficult to find what ytou want for less than 800$ in all honesty. The amp has to be on par with the speakers, the RC-50 retail price was not cheap. I would be more patient and buy something you wont regret.
I dont mind paying $700-800 but by the time it reaches me (Duties and Freight), it becomes $1400-1600.

So you think UPA-2 will not be a step up from 5005? Secondly, what is in the AVR which makes them sound a little dull compared to IA, Pre-Amp or Poweramp section of AVR?

When i audition AVR's and IA's, I find 45wpc IA's sound better than 100wpc AVR but IA's distort at high volumes and AVR never distorts. Why i am asking this because my AVR's Pre-Out works as Pre-Amp. So if the Pre-Amp section is not great, then irrespective of Power I put, it will not sound good.

A lot of it has to do with the quality of the components, 1000$ IA vs a 1000$ AVR makes the IA sound that much better because you don't pay for all the bells and wisthles it has like all the audio codecs, video inputs etc. as for the watts, I will tell you never get fooled by wattage, those are just numbers and this is why we all want you to audition before your purchase, I heard a 45wpc IA sound better than another 100wpc IA, one thing you have to look at also is that not all companies rate their products the same way, depends if you look ata distortion sometimes could be 100wpc at 1% thd while the other rates 45wpc at 0.02% thd, that is a huge difference. In wattage the most important is the amount of current nd not the voltage.

Voltage * Current = Wattage

The higher the current is the better it usually sounds so this is another reason 100 watts is not necessarly better than 45wpc. HK is one AVR company that is absolutely true to their specs, their 50wpc is often more than 100wpc of other avr, this 50 wpc is all channels driven at minimal distortion. Now Marantz use to be like that but since Denon boght them I am not sure. An avr can be very musical as long as you have the right one.

You might as well spend 1K on an good IA in this case, please do audition if you can.
