Looks they have them in stock i would call to make sure they actually phisically have boxes of those.
You know Olivier, it's funny you mentioned that. I've been back and forth to Vanns for a couple of weeks now looking at them. I've been VERY tempted to get another pair for surrounds. That would round out my set up quite nicely, but I think I will save up for a new sub instead. That is very tempting though I have to admit.

I agree but that could be your chance to actually have perfect matching surrounds that was my point even if they don't have to match and you could get the sub later.

Anyhow let's see what Steve has to say but htose won't be there forever that is for sure nor very long either.

You are correct, and the fact that they will be increasingly harder to find has crossed my mind, thus the reason for my temptation to jump on them while they are available.

I would be thorn too , but I don't know if they could really confirm they have them in stock as they have been discontinued.

One thing i can say about klipsch/energy is that like with the Jamos, the old Jamo 400 series was already replaced with the 600s and then a flood of the 400s came here from overseas, and so the dealers that were their highest moving dealers of those products got them to sell them off for the company.

I think that this may be another one of those situations. Mike... I honestly think that getting the sub would be your best bet for now, even tho the RC-10s will match and be a wonderful setup. I think later you could find a pair on ebay for not too much to complete the setup. OR get RC-Minis.

Thanks for chiming in on this Steve, and I was actually thinking along those lines. I see RC-10's come up for sale from time to time on ebay, so I don't think I'm in danger of never being able to find a pair.
I really really need a decent sub. My Yamaha is fine most of the time, but there are scenes with gun shots or explosions that my Yammy just can't keep up with. My Infinity surrounds actually sound pretty nice even though they do not exactly match up with the Energy's. They sound nice and clear with no distortion, so I'm actually pleased with them for the time being. Actually, the only time I've ever noticed any difference was last Saturday afternoon; I picked up the movie "The Book of Eli," which by the way has excellent surround sound effects. In the scene where they are shooting up the house and the camera slowly turns, you hear the gunfire pan from the front speakers around to the rear speakers, I noticed a slight difference in the sound, but other than that it's barely discernible in most other movies I've seen so for.

Besides, in the end I may end up with a pair of RC-LCR's for the front and move my RC-10's to the rear. You never know.

Im just of the opinion that the sub will give you the biggest improvement and that you should make the biggest upgrades first. Once you get that Hsu sub, you are going to be amazed that you didn't do it sooner.

Unfortunately no. UPS finally issued the claim today and Vanns told me they would be shipping out my replacement today. Still haven't received the tracking number for that replacement though. Vanns said to give them 24 hours to get me the track #. Until I get it, I'll just assume they haven't shipped me a new pair yet.

This is extremely frustrating experience. Hopefully you are going to get your speakers in the shortest delays.

Ah, sorry to hear that. It's a shame they don't overnight it to you. I realize how frustrating it all is, but just hang in there a little longer. It'll be worth the wait I'm sure. I would love to jump on a new sub right now, but I can't make any more large purchases till close to Christmas time. I just spent a grand on this new receiver so I need to save up a little more.

The replacement pair of CR10's was sent yesterday by Vann's. They never sent the track # so I called them this morning to verify what it was. Of course, they just shipped it via ground so I still won't get these until Monday -- assuming of course they don't get lost again.

Overall, mixed feelings about Vann's. They did have great prices on the CF70's and the CC10 and CR10's for that matter. I had no issue with getting the CF70's and the CC10. Dealing with the lost CR10's just showed some flaws in their business practices and since others in this thread might want to purchase some Energy's from them in the future, here's how their system works if something gets lost like in my case:

--Vann's doesn't have a call tracking system considering I called them on 08/04, which is what UPS told me to do, to have them open up the trace. Was told they would open the trace. I found out 6 days later they didn't when I called back to see where things were at and they had no record of my call from 08/04.

--If something is lost, Vann's gives you 3 options. 1. If you'd like the item right away, you can PAY again, for the same item you've already paid for mind you, and they'll ship you said item and refund you once the trace is completed by UPS. 2. You can wait until the trace is complete and then they will ship you the item. 3. You can wait until the trace is complete and then they will refund you what you originally paid and you won't get the item. There is no option to get the item right away without having to pay for it again.

--Here's the kicker....now that the trace is done and Vanns has gotten the claim back from UPS, they'll reship the item to you .....GROUND. No overnight or expedited shipping process, nope. It was originally sent ground so they'll reship it ground, never mind that it was originally lost.

So there you go. Take from it what you will if you consider buying Energy's or anything else from them. I don't mean to make Vann's sound out to be bad. Again, they had great prices on these speakers and that's ultimately what drives people to buy from certain places.

I purchased my RC-10's from them and thankfully had no problems.

I did however have problems with UPS when I ordered my RC-LCR from an Ebay vendor. It got delayed in transit and I received it about a week later than the original estimated arrival date. However, I do believe it was weather related though because the place where it shipped from was hit hard with snow at that time.

Ahh man! That felt like a long time ago when we purchased the LCR the same time.

Default What do you think?

Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of upgrading my speakers from Polk Monitor to Energy RC series speakers. So far i have an RCLCR (center) and a pair of RC-10's (will be rear surrounds). I'll pick up the RC-70 when Vanns gets them. What do you think I should do about the side surrounds? Right now i have towers so i was thinking the RC-30 or RC-50. Would another set of RC-70's be overkill? I don't think i want to spend that much. Take a look at my gallery to see how i currently have it setup. I'd like to keep the layout the same so that's why i think side towers would be best but i'm open to any suggestions.

I originally went with towers as surrounds because i never heard bookshelves really put out the amount of volume i wanted during movies or music that towers can. It's probably overkill but with them all running i really don't feel the need to turn on the sub. =:O)

Let me know what you think? BTW i decided on Energy RC's after reading this thread and hearing how satisfied everyone was with them. I plugged in the RC-10's as front LR just to see what they can do and i think they put out better sound than the Monitor 60's (in my setup). I was quite shocked seeing they are so small compared to the Polks. I guess build quality really does make a difference. Quite eye opening.

Kayvan

Default RC50 started singing

Atlast, my RC50 started singing. Sold my Marantz SR5005. For trial, bought pre-owned Pioneer A-60 for $100 and what a difference with all the other parameters like cdp, cables and placement remaining same. Even my mp3s have started singing from a @20 cdp.

Is these so called Vintage Amp's better than today's Amp's? Decided to buy Marantz CDP 6003 and definately looking for a new Stereo Amp and have shortlised CA Azur 650, HK 3390 and Marantz PM7004 for same. Please give your inputs and suggestions.

Also had a chance to buy pre-owned HK PM655 VXI for $200. Not sure it would sound better than Pioneer.

No does not mean anything but Integrated amps are usually better than AVR for music but not always true, it's not a certainty, today's IA can be absolutely phenomenal but vintage Pioneer do sound really nice actually. Hard for me to recommend anything in the lot you mentioned as i have not tried the RC-70 with any of them but I would probably go for the Azur 650.
