Should I hold off on buying The Virgin Spring? I'm definitely holding on on buying the Spartacus and Wild Strawberries DVDs, because one has been rumored and one has been confirmed. I'm also going to hold off on buying the Canadian Blu-Ray of Y Tu Mama Tambien?, because that has also been confirmed.

It was interesting and entertaining, but a lot different than I thought. I'm glad that I saw it, but also glad that I held off on buying it...at least for now. |

A friend watched Sunday Bloody Sunday last night on netflix after I suggested it to her, though I haven't seen it yet. I blind bought it yesterday based solely on the review here. In the end she suggested I perhaps not keep it, though it may have been appreciated for what it did for its day, it doesn't hold up that well today. No one here suggested it to me tha I recall so I'm considering returning it. Thoughts?
Last night watched Blow Out, never knew Lithgow was in it. He sure loves playing serial killers. Absolutely loved the cinematography. And that ending... Just wow. |

I have always shipped using the Amazon foldover wrappers, or european A1 envelopes (the best! but don't seem to be available in the US), or Eureka's folded cardboard, which is similar to FoxConnect's packaging. Should I ever run out of those, I made a template of the Eureka and FoxConnect packaging and could fold my own packaging from cardboard flats. A pizza knife could be used to score the cardboard. I had to discount a couple. "Insignificance" and "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence" wouldn't seem to sell at almost $20. "Bigger than Life" (Cortisone Madness) went slowly at that price. Added: The assumption for $5 net cost is that the movie was bought at a $20 sale. That doesn't consider the time cost of packaging the order and stopping at the post office, but if you sell on a small scale it can be fun. Packaging is easier if you can accurately weigh the package and buy Amazon's shipping, which gets you a printable mailing label with 1st class postage and delivery confirmation. They do charge a small commission for that, but its very convenient. The 5$ net cost does take into account Amazon's other fees: sales commission and about $1 per item sold. I haven't sold any for several months, so this information may be inaccurate -- they do have plans that are different for big sellers ... more than 40 items/month. Many of these early Cronenberg films haven't been treated very well, have they? I have the Somerville (or whatever they're called) DVD of RABID - could use an upgrade - but Scanners is my favorite so, of course I have the crappy barebones MGM DVD. I'd love a Criterion version but I don't know if it's their cup of tea. I couldn't get into VIDEODROME - still have the Criterion DVD but have seen only about half an hour of the film.

Just talked to CS @ B&N. They apologised and said that they had lost all visibility to orders placed on the 31st and asked for customers to please be patient while they try to restore (no ETA on restore). The CS rep promised that if B&N were unable to restore, I would be allowed to reinstate the order including use of now expired coupon. I told them I'd call back next week. |

Does anyone know where I might be able to find a list of Criterions based on books besides going through each and every movie and looking individually? I've searched the CC website, but was unable to find anything. Any suggestions are appreciated.
