Passed 1000 a little over a week ago. Ive really started to focus on horror, domestic and importing, while cutting out the mainstream releases. Cost goes up, but I get more bang for the buck overall with this focus

I have also cut down on the mainstream titles and I am focusing on catalog releases (both domestic and imports).

Me too. I just checked my collection statistics and 69% of my collection is now 1980s and older. This trend will continue as more and more great catalog titles make it to blu-ray.

Well here I am and I officially have a problem.
Two months after reaching the 700 club I post in this thread.

I got here in just a little over a year. Didn't really start buying blurays until the Target price issue on the 3D version of the Avengers which came out September of last year.

Still working on doing a complete update of my collection (got a number of titles that aren't in the system, both BD and DVD), but figured I may as well post.

It's funny, when everyone I know personally hears of how many movies I own they think I'm insane. But my collection is dwarfed by a lot of the folks here!

The tough part for me now is to try and sort the collection here on the site. Trying to decide on what categories to use.

About a year and a half ago, I decided to switch to organizing my collection by decade. At that time I had around 800 movies and having them all under "owned", while alphabetical and simple, just didn't feel or look right anymore. I thought about organizing by type of movie, but decided decade was simpler and fit my heavily catalog title based collection better, since I have so many older films.

I still use a few special categories other than decades. Movies that are in sets and cross decade boundaries, I have in a "collections" category. Disney/Pixar gets its own category, as do my digibooks, documentaries, and music.

By genre. I have them organized on my shelf the same way I have it organized on this site.

By genre seems to work best for me. I am really starting to hurt for storage space though. It looks like my next shelf may have to be in another room. My wife is about ready to lose it when I bring up this problem. She says the solution is just to quit buying them. I tell her that's just crazy talk.

I do alphabetical, but I have sections and each are alphabetical

I have a section for normal Blu-rays, Criterions, animated (family), multi-feature sets, DVD, Digibooks and box sets.

Mine is very Similar.

Went over 1000 start of this year. I should finish on 1400 end of year. 400 this year is not too bad.

I'll be joining the 1000+ club very soon. The Zatoichi set may put me over the number as I count each film individually. Will anyone count the set as 1?
