Thunderdome documentary: the cast and crew endured the memorable filming of "Beyond Thunderdome "50 ° C heat and massive sandstorms (ca. 45 minutes) I am very happy to be proven wrong! |

That bit about Thunderdome has been there for a while on the German description, it's why people have been talking about new extras for Thunderdome in the first place. But they've updated the disc count to show what's what and I still don't get where that documentary is going to go.

Me too, there's an old documentary on youtube which some people are assuming will be the one included here, but nobody knows for sure. I guess we're just too far away from release to be getting all these details nailed down just yet.

Good, but where's the option to play the musical score only.

There's no isolated score then.
Well that's unfortunate. |

It's unclear if there is one or not. WB hasn't actually stated what the hell the Black and Chrome edition actually is outside of being black-and-white. It might have an isolated score, and it might not. We just don't know yet.

There's no word about the silent version/ISO score features. Will play the wait & see game. |

How much do you wanna bet there's gonna be a triple dip with the isolated score? |

"The best version of ‘Fury Road’ was what we called a ‘slash dupe’: a cheap, black-and-white version of the movie for the composer. Something about it seemed more authentic and elemental,” said Miller. ''At the time, he stated he had “demanded” a black-and-white version of Fury Road for the Blu-ray release, which would also feature an option to hear the isolated score as the only soundtrack.'' Source. slashfim.com So which version are we getting?? ... NO idea! |

Sweet. Thanks for the heads up. I was hoping they'd add that to the iTunes Extras instead of making you buy a second copy. Good deal.

Has anyone discussed the fact that Mad Max is getting a 4K UHD release? It'd be pretty annoying if a 4K UHD edition for it exists but the disc here is the same one MGM and Warner have been recycling for years.
Another question is how does Mad Max have a UHD Blu-ray at all? I remember reading once that the negative was lost...did they recover it? It would also add to the disc inefficiency in that then Mad Max would have also been re-pressed, without bothering to try and put the SD Madness of Max documentary on that disc. |

You can still pull a 4K transfer from an IP, tyler. Another cheapy exploitation flick from the same era has just had a 4K do-over in Italy from an IP (Argento Cut of Dawn of the Dead) so as long as a decent pre-print element survives and you've got people willing to spend the clams to bring it up to snuff, then 4K is a go.
And the reason why the UHD isn't getting much traction news-wise is that it's a Warners release outside of the US, point being that MGM have the rights to release Mad Max on physical media in the US and they've announced zero involvement with UHD Blu-ray thus far. Warners aren't stupid, they know that if the German High Octane Box had Mad Max in UHD but there was no concurrent US option then people would go bananas. |

But doesn't MGM have a never-ending home video distribution agreement with Fox (a major player in the UHD format). I could imagine once Fox decided to roll out UHD Blus of older films such as Die Hard and Day The Earth Stood Still, I'm sure they'll make MGM follow suit to put out their classic catalog offerings like the James Bond films and West Side Story.
