Spectacular episode. It's a shame that this will get like 10% of the viewership than the new Mandalorian episode, being optimistic. Yet this episode is so superior, and I like The Mandalorian! I hope this paves the road for a Crosshair redemption.

Filoni could be trying to tie it to Mandalorian's Dark Trooper project. |

Current. You have to have access to the official reference material supplements (books) to get a lot of the information you want about specific things like the DTs. Otherwise, you have to hope someone fills out stuff on Wookiepedia. From what we know of the DT Project, it wouldn't have existed until much later, when the Empire and Imperial Army/Navy were more established. The period of Obi-Wan/Andor would be when the program is likely to have been started, as that is when the Empire was openly dealing with threats to it's stability.

If I remember correctly, they all had their chips removed or it never affected them. Hence why Crosshair going "bad" was a shock initially. Someone correct me if I'm mistaken. I remember there was an episode where they had to remove Wrecker's chip I think.

Wrecker and Crosshair exhibited side-effects from the programming and the rest were completely unaffected and Crosshair later had his chip programming jacked up with complete loyalty to the Empire. Echo had his brain chop-shopped by the Separatists, so he may have had the chip removed or it was simply negated entirely by his cybernetic replacement parts. Regular troops and Clone Commandos had a sort of neurological rewiring when the order was given that fried their brains a bit, at least temporarily, reducing their effectiveness. That also happened to Wrecker, when his chip and genetic modifications conflicted, causing him to go haywire.

Crosshair specifically said he had his chip removed though.

I have a feeling his redemption will involve him dying.

This episode had the makings of the most predictable series of events ever put onto paper.
"Oh, this is such a great place. The people are accomodating and nice. They even want us to stay here!" I knew something bad would happen, but I give the episode props for not taking the obvious route. i.e. The Bad Batch saying they always bring danger with and decide not to put anyone in danger so they leave. Also, the Bad Batch ghosting Sid is the best thing this group has done this season, if not their entire existence. |
