Thanks. So, the S590 works like the earlier models where the HDMI handshake controls the output, not the bitstream/PCM setting for Dolby/DTS.

As a new Denon owner I'd like to join in.
I bought AVR-2113Ci now I need speakers that will work with the receiver.
Budget is $2,500 for two towers, center and two bookshelves for rear.
Music/movies 50/50, living room is 14'x18'.

Listened to B&W 683, HTM61 and 686, it was pretty good.
Any other options? KEF Q, PSB Image?
I would appreciate any input or suggestion.

Thanks.

I think Paradigm's sound good with Denon. Although now I have a Emotiva amp driving them now.

You after looks or sound? My wife had no choice in my decision. B&W, Paradigm, & PSB all have the same look to me.

DefTech Mythos sound great and tend to have good WAF.

This is all assuming your Blu-ray player is set to output audio as "bitstream", which allows the Denon to do the decoding. If you set your player to "PCM' then the Denon should display "MULTI CH IN".

"Stereo" means 2 channel, so any time you select "stereo" playback (see table on page 19) you will only get audio out of your F/L speakers. "Virtual" is a mode designed for people who have only headphones or 2 speakers. In your current setup you should never use "Virtual" and "Stereo should only be used if you're listening to music or watching a movie with a 1 or 2 channel soundtrack.

Personally, I never use the "Cinema", "Music" or "Game" surround modes. All those do is add sound effects (i.e. echoes) that aren't part of the soundtrack.
That solved the problem thank you guys
The problem was from my blu-ray player I've changed PCM to Bitstream.
And now my receiver shows "DTS-HD MSTR"

In the past few days I've experienced another problem!
My AVR 1312 sometimes shuts down by itself and there is a red ring appears in the ON/Standby button!
I mean sometimes not all the times!
Is it from the heat of the room or something else?
What can cause the machine to shut down by itself?

That happened to me before and it was that my speaker wires were touching each other on one of my speakers. Once I seperated them with electrical tape...I've never had the problem again! Don't know if this is your issue...but I would look into it.

my 3311 did that, just before the power supply went out; so I bought a 3312...will finally get around to sending the 3311 for repairs tomorrow...

not having any power problems now; Updating Fail B4 message; never would Upgrade (AirPlay)

called 855-MY.DENON

they had me hit the UP & DOWN buttons on the front panel cursor buttons while powering on...

let the display flash 5 times; called this a NETWORK CARD reset...it's attempting to UPGRADE now; will let everyone know...

Default Muted Front Channels

My first post in this forum _ I did a search and nothing came up.
Mine is a AVR988 and recently the front left and right speakers were blowing their fuses, but when I connected the same speakers to the other set of front surround terminals, everything was fine, but I still thought it best to bring it to a authorized Denon repair centre.
The repair guy did a firmware update to the processor (not a factory reset) and told me that the front surrounds were muted and there was nothing wrong with the AVR.
Question is how can just the front surround channel be muted on it's own and how did it get that way ?
I spent all morning trying to figure this out and the only that I could come up with is that the channels were turned down to the -12 dB mark, but even then I still should have heard something out of the front speakers and there was nothing.
I connected everything up and all works as it should.
I must be missing something here or is there a way to mute specific channels, and really, why would some one even want to do that ?
Any explanation ?
Thanks

So I stopped by bestbuy to check out their stock and they had an open box 1913 for $310. It just kept calling me!! So I checked it out and everything looked great, think it just used an older remote which is no biggie since I use my harmony.

Needless to say the wifey gave in and said I could get it as an early bday gift

Hey all.....

I Just purchased a 1913 yesterday for a secondary room. Anybody know a good way to hook it up wirelessly? It's quite a ways from my wireless router, so a wired connection would be a pain. Is there some kind or wireless adapter I can get? Thanks

I'm told you may use a wireless bridge, ethernet over coax, or powerline wall plug adapter...

see last 2 pages, where I ask this Q and the answers...

So I went and picked up a powerline and I was online in minutes.....pretty sweet!!

I am still having some issues with Pandora though. I already have an account, but when I input everything, it just says "please wait" for a second and then just site there. I even reset my password, but no go. Anybody have ideas any ideas on this?
