Well, my first DestinyLFG experience was mixed. Even with an Atheon save point, couldn't beat it with 3 different teams, just couldnt do it. The first team kept trying to front cheese him and failed. The second was three 30s and three 29s, but one guy was off mike and it started getting testy. We got him to 15% twice but Venus Minotaur. The third was five 29s and me, and that was just a massacre with the away team.

Egh. I hate the Venus Minotaur. L29s should never pick the relic up.

I learned that the hard way lol the damage handicap is ridiculous! I might log on and give it another go tonight. Half the team will be on cod tonight though.

People don't even know the damage penalty exists, and don't believe it sometimes. I tested it directly myself, because I did not believe it, either.

A guardian at or above the enemy level criticals 100% damage. You get no bonus for being overlevel, which is why it feels ridiculous dying on Cosmodrome sometimes.

-1 level to the enemy gives you only 68% damage or -32% penalty.
-2 against is 55% or -45%
-3 against is 48% or -52%

So, when that level 29 (more often myself than 30s when among randoms. I know better than to take it, but if two seconds go by and it's still sitting there, I am not giving up) takes the relic, if it takes the level 30 three hits to kill the minotaur, it's going to take the level 29 5 hits (4.4, but you can't do a .4 hit), if they are good hits, just to take out the minotaur, not to mention the other adds, more if you miss once. During this extra time, the whole party is vulnerable to the adds and get blinded and unable to kill oracles. It's ridiculous. Maybe it takes the level 30 only two hits to kill the minotaur, then good hits will take the 29 three tries, if they are all good hits. A level 28 (or 27 which I have seen in hard raids) is without hope. And the fraction between levels makes no difference to damage.

Edit: It also explains why I run out of ammo on hard raids all the time, while the higher levels do not. I also believe it's a bit unconscionable to penalize underlevel players this way, when the POS random drops will not allow them to play a mission in a game they payed real money for at an appropriate level.

If it weren't for the co-op and the fact I already paid for the expansion I would have put this game down.

I really hate to say it, but COD was a breath of fresh air after the hundred plus hours of Destiny.

Bungie needs to fix the game right, not break it any further.

I believe the same works for damage received, although it was a post I read on reddit over a month ago, that those same damage percentages go for damage received. I.e., you receive ~30% more damage at one level less than your for, ~40 at two levels less, etc.

Now, one person said that the inverse is true for damage received only when you're higher level than your foe (i.e., 30% less damage when youre a level higher, 40% when two, maxes out at 50% or three, which is again how you can still get clobbered in the 'drome)

Yeah, I picked up COD last night and think Destiny will be on the shelf for a while. I was starting to get burnt out on it and a little break will do me good.

I traded it in since I didn't have the expansion. When I started a 2nd identical character just to get a 2nd raid chance for armor I knew it was over. I couldn't get thru the story again. And my sleep was hindered as my team could only play late.

Liking COD so far.

I did the LFG thing after you guys took off the other day, I made sure to put level 30 only in my description box. Got an invite in a few minutes, group had one 29, we finished it in 3 teleports.

Yes, I see it's back! Good call. I was rank 1.5 when it ended last time. Already 30, but I'm a sucker for more cool loot.
